Niether the players nor the owners have been in a hurry. There is no money to be made by the owners in the off-season. As a matter of fact they used this lock out to reduce staff and save money. For the players, they don’t have to go through as many workouts, but will still get game checks as long as they agree to a deal on time. By putting this off, everybody wins…….except the fans.

It’s amazing this hasn’t been resolved yet. I mean the players and owners are personally working almost 2 WHOLE DAYS per week on it.

It’s time for these bozos to get a clue that the NFL needs the fans more than the fans need the NFL. This mess is going to ruin the loyalty of the fan base everywhere. I hope all this procrastination and laziness leads to the loss of the entire season. Then, maybe, these guys will finally feel a sense of urgency.

dewiseman..pretty unwise,mam…union decertified first, ran to the nanny state to do what DeMoron wasn’t man enough to do on his own, THEN came the lockout.

pkma…bad news…most people don’t care about the lockout one way or the other…it just isn’t important when, if, or how this gets settled except to hard core fans.

Boylan deserves his vacation, and if I were him, I wouldn’t make myself available at all. These idiots aren’t concerned enough to meet more than 2 times a week, why should my family put out because the because of them?

Real leaders would have had this done by now.

That old judge on vacation…ok if he needs to be talked to, he will be the old guy feeding the squirrels at the park….just have some little dweeb like LaCanfora dial the numbers on that hand held device he has, then Jason tells the judge, “its ok theres no wires attached, I promise you they can hear you”….then maybe the friggin deal can get done,..and the squirrels can resume their day with the silly old man walkin around the park looking disturbing in that robe.

2. Players union decertifies
3. Minnesota district court rules in favor of players and ends lockout.
4. MF calls for concessions by NFL
5. NFL appeals
6. 8th Circuit grants NFL temporary stay of district court’s order. Both sides return to bargaining table.
7. MF calls for concessions by NFL
8. 8th Circuit grants NFL permanent stay of district court’s order.
9. MF calls for concessions by NFL
10. Players union complains that it is tired of making all the concessions.
11. Players union continues to make concessions.
12. On or about July 21: Agreement announced. Final score: NFL 42 Players union: 7

This whole thing now seems like both sides are afraid to sign the deal because they don’t want to wake up the next day thinking the other side got the better of them and looking bad to their constituents. So, they come up with these nitpicky little things and make them into “major” issues. The rookie wage debate is ridiculous.

The mediator is a government employee who earns a salary, not consulting fees. And I honestly view the lack of urgency as a sense of comfort between both sides that this will be done on time. Worst case it is posturing and actually drags this out. Using logic I would assume this is the time to take final positions and make final concessions to close before they have to cancel things and really start an outrage amongst even the casual fan base. Here’s to hoping those in charge share in my logic.
