APOne of the most compelling pieces of video generated during the 2010 football season involved no football action. Instead, the video demonstrated the collapse of the roof of the Metrodome under the weight of a blizzard’s worth of snow.
Far less compelling but nevertheless worth watching is the footage of the inflation of the new roof, courtesy of our friends at KFAN.com.
It’s a time-lapse video that at one point makes us wonder whether the subtitle should be, “If this dome’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’.”
UPDATE: The Vikings have issued a statement regarding the inflation of the Metrodome. “We appreciate the efforts of the MSFC and the local unionized workforce who spent countless hours replacing the Metrodome roof since its collapse last December,” said Vikings president Mark Wilf. “Today’s roof inflation means the project is ahead of schedule and ensures that Mall of America Field will be the Vikings home during the 2011 season. We are excited about getting our home field advantage back and playing in front of Vikings fans this year.”

So many collapses in Minnesota last season…
A sigh of relief from Los Angeles NFL fan…er…fans.
And a little Viagra wash every day will hopefully keep it up!
cant believe they didn’t knowck it down
“If this dome’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’.”
Ponder to Harvin
Ponder to Rice*
Adrian 35 30 25 20 15 10 5 TOUCHDOWN!!!!
The dome will be rockin’ again!!!
Cue Supersuckers with some sort of Ponder joke he’s used 100000 times in 3…2…
Hopefully they got the 30 years of dust off the speakers and light holder thingy-ma-bobs.
Would have been nice to experiment with an open air stadium by simply tearing the roof off.
It takes me two hours to blow up my kid’s wading pool.
this, however is as if nature filled their diaper so full that it crapped all over the vikings..:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIYB-PycCuU
Watched my birds kill the vikes twice in that stadium. Such great memories. I’m tearin up. Westy on the deep screen run- AP runs out of bounds at the 2 on a kickoff. ASAM picks it off for a TD. Great time, great times.
The acoustic tiles look like fringe. That reminds me of a song…
Bears and Packers and Lions will run home
When I take you down to the dome,
When I take you down to the dome with the fringe on top!
Watch that fringe and see how it flutters
When Christian drives them high steppin’ strutters.
Nosey pokes will peek through their shutters and their eyes will pop!
“local unionized workforce”
That needed to be said in that manner, did it? Couldn’t just say the work crew or the contractors?
It still makes me laugh. A stadium with an inflatable roof. ROFL!!!!! What the hell did you expect?
I’d rather watch a blow up doll inflation video. Welcome to L.A. Vikings!
Great job. Now there’s no need to rebuild a stadium that’s less than 30 years old and burden the Minnesota taxpayers with a hefty bill for a billionaire’s place of business.
It is nice to see the Packer Dome fixed. The extra home game the Green and Gold in Minnesota is very important….
Where are all the championship banners?

I hate this damn place.

Why watch a video when you do it live every night?
If the workforce was unionized, the hours were not ‘countless’. Trust me, someone got a bill.
Yea and it will deflate again after the Raiders bomb the place on NOV @ 20th and leave with a lopsided win.
Late…
would have been even more entertaining to watch had they pumped too much air in causing the roof to tear open…again.

I inflate my doll with helium and fantasize that she’s Linda Blair.
Fixing that dump is like putting lipstick on a pig. It’s still a pig and it’s still a dump.
“If this dome’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’.”
I like the sound of that. Maybe you should have it tattooed to your scalp under that ridiculous wig.
This will make it easier to get the moving vans in there, so they be loaded up with football equipment and driven to LA, where the Vikings will be playing.
Did you see the end of the video ? The local unionized workforce are Oompa Loompa’s.
that video was less than compelling
” (union workforce …) That needed to be said in that manner, did it? Couldn’t just say the work crew or the contractors?”
They had to explain why it wasn’t done in half the time at half the cost.
Whenever I see that dirt it reminds me of Monster Truck shows. I think there’s been more motocross and monster truck events in that place than anything.
Yeah, it’s a dump. However, people forget it was a work of wonder when built 30 years ago. Hopefully MN will get a new Stadium…
No thanks to Pawlenty who couldn’t get passed taxes on luxury, merchandise and others just about every team has. That BOLD stand has done wonders for his Presidential plans…

See all the blank banners hanging from the roof? Are we seeing how many Super Bowl banners we can hang from the roof before it collapses again…
Rise Gas Bag Stadium … RISE!!!
“Today’s roof inflation means the project is ahead of schedule … ”
That’s because the original schedule was drawn up with union workers in mind.
Mark Wilf: “Today’s roof inflation means the project is ahead of schedule and ensures that Mall of America Field will be the Vikings home during the 2011 season.”
Isn’t that still in the hands of the owners and NFLP(A*)? Or is this the Vikings’ way of leaking that a deal has already been reached?
Come on! No thumbs up and 31 thumbs down on my takeoff on “Surrey with the Fringe on Top”? (I know there’s one thumbs up, but that was me.) What, PFT Planet doesn’t like show tunes? I thought some of you were fans…

Come on Phantom.
75% of the people on this thread are Packer fans.
If the song isn’t:
1.) Go Pack Go
2.) I don’t wanna work
3.) Roll out the barrel
4.)Grandma got run over by a reindeer
5.) Tirty point buck
Then they have never heard of it.
You actually expect Packer fans to have any culture?
I gave a thumbs up…youre at 3.
you forgot “bang on the drum all day”
Thank you scheme. I don’t wanna work = bang on the drum. Couldn’t remember the actual name.
