THANK YOU for taking the two worst pro-Owner's Union arguments out there and wrapping them up in a nice little package.

1. The owners are demanding and fighting for a system where a percentage of revenues are shared with the players. , ie the oh-so-popular salary cap. Therefore it's prudent for the players to know how much revenue is coming in.

2. It's illegal to bring in scabs during a lockout.

What does posting history have to do with knowledge of the situation? If you have posted irrelevant material on the site for over a year and a new poster posts something more meaningful (which is what happened here), you believe the former is a more qualified speaker because they have been around longer?

Way to rationalize.

The owners have their schedule for activities and nothing is going to stand in the way, including dotting i's and crossing t's. Free Agency is starting Friday come hell or high water. The union only needs to reconstitute to get approvals on retirement and drug testing, but can get a waiver until it can be completed, that can be gotten Wednesday when the players meet to have the contract explained to them. Quite frankly if Mankins and Jackson want to be free agents, then the owners will let them be free agents, only two owners would vote against it, the Patriots and Chargers, and that certainly doesn't constitute an issue with the vote passing. I don't see anything that is being written as being a show stopper as far as getting owners to vote on Thursday and starting free agency on Friday. Quite frankly, the owners got what they wanted with a rookie wage scale and will hold out till late Wednesday to see what they can get the players to cave on and everything else they will relent on and the deal will be done.

Roger Goodell is the puppet, not the puppeteer.

He has done exactly as he was told to by his bosses. He pushed this as long and hard as he could up to the point where revenue streams (games) were threatened.

To all the people who say this could have been done months ago if the two sides had met more- you just don't understand business. That was never going to happen. Contentious negotiations are always dragged out as long the two sides can afford to drag them out.

Neither side was willing to move in March/April/May because nothing was at stake. And don't tell me about the quality of football suffering this season- as long as you are watching (and paying), and you will, it doesn't make a bit of difference to them.

That's why I always believed no games would be missed (and they won't). The owner's couldn't afford to miss games (or weren't willing to take the financial hit) and players had nowhere else to go to make money.

Contrast that to the NBA lockout, where they surely miss games, perhaps even an entire season. The finances in that league are such a mess that there are teams that would actually lose LESS money if the season is cancelled than they would if it was played, and many players have the opportunity to make money overseas.

Looking forward to an insane free agency period starting sometime next week.
