Getty ImagesFormer NFL quarterback Jim McMahon, who rose to stardom as one of the leaders of the 1985 Bears, was injured when the limo in which he was riding crashed on Monday.
According to KOLO TV, the limo went off the road and into a field on U.S. 395 in Pleasant Valley, Nevada. McMahon, who had been in the back of the vehicle, ended up in the front seat. He and the driver were taken to a local hospital, with injuries that did not appear to be serious.
The driver apparently was taking McMahon to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. McMahon had played in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.
UPDATE: We’re told that McMahon suffered a broken foot in the accident.

At least he can blame the limo driver this time. Sticking a fork in your own eye to see if it hurts leaves you with no outs.
Well, I hope his shades are okay at least…..
It is amazing how those limos and SUVs just veer off the road unexpectedly. It must be some kind of design defect or computer glitch. Or perhaps the vehicles are acting on their own accord….
The punky QB plays golf? Must be a Rodney Dangerfield Charity event.
Is anyone else surprised that Jim McMahon has $60?
Cutler and him can hang out together and nurse there injuries together now.
did he keep one foot on the ground?
Is Jimmy Mac a limo driver now?
Forget about the shades, what about the Taco Bell Grande??
Loved that great ’96 Packers team he was on….
Glad he appears to be okay. Always liked McMahon. Gutsy player.
All the best, JimmyMac.
Your as tough as the come.

Folks I present the former Majik Bullet..this is him/her. Guaranteed. How do you feel about Favre/Thompson now sir?
It begs the question, if he’d never played in MN, would this injury have happened?
@supersuckers3 …
That’s not Majik … just a kindred spirit. He’s been around as long as Majik was. Think he’s a Pats fan.
Virusgvr, you’re a moron.
Not only are you such a bored pathetic Bear hater that you took the time to post about cutler in a post about a former Bears qb getting into a car accident, you’re so brain dead that you don’t know the difference between their and there.
“Jim McMahon injured in limo accident”
The most baller PFT headline ever..
Drew Brees was quoted as laughing hysterically at a former player’s misery.
I love the comments from all the guys who couldn’t afford a limo ride, much less to the airport to fly somewhere……
I’m surprised there have been as many snarky mean-spirited comments on here as there have. After all, every time we see an athlete (or former-athlete) get a DUI there is a non-stop barrage of people saying, “why didn’t he get a cab/limo/car service?
McMahon does….and STILL all this derision?
Clearly some people will just attack anyone, for any reason. Sad, and classless.
I don’t see any reason to say anything but: get well soon, Jimmy Mac.
He hit his head too but his sweatband and hair product protected him.
Get well Jim.
Apparently, driving a limo is harder than it looks. Right Jimmy Mac??
Bell Limo is an unauthorized Limo Carrier, regulatory compliance isnt their forte. The guy is luck to be alive!
Fun Fact about Jimmy Mac:
Besides being just all-around generally awesome and bad-ast, Jimmy Mac did in fact play with the Pack (and Queens) as Failvre’s back-up.
But the story gets better:
McMahon won a (second) Super Bowl ring as Brett Favre’s backup in 1996…and when the Packers were honored at the White House, McMahon — awesome as ever — wore a BEARS jersey! That’s right.
This, of course, caused all the Green Bay fans (and some players) to get their green crusted panties all bunched up. But McMahon explained that he did it because the Bears never got a chance to visit the White House after winning Super Bowl XX. (Their trip to the W.H. was canceled after the space shuttle Challenger blew up, killing all 7 astronauts, including Christa McCaulliff (sp?). She touched the future — she taught. Remember?
Classic 80′s joke: What does NASA stand for?Need Another Seven Astronauts
Anyway, that’s classic McMahon. Say what you want about the guy, but he’s not just a character, he’s actually, authentically that way (not putting on some d-bag schtick, like, say, Jared Allen). He’s also got some cojones. Truly unique personalities like his are few and far between.
No matter where goes or what he does, he’ll always be a Bear.
P.S. From what I understand, he’s actually a pretty decent golfer, too.
