Lawrence Timmons on Steelers: “We’re going to be a family”

AP

Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons joined PFT Live on Monday, and he did not call Roger Goodell any names.  In fact, he said Goodell doesn’t even pick on the Steelers.

“It’s a business. Roger Goodell is doing his job. He’s front office. Whatever he says goes, and I’ll leave it at that,” Timmons said.

Timmons also told Florio that he’s not worried about the recent run of Steelers-related stories in the news, including James Harrison’s comments about Ben Roethlisberger and Rashard Mendenhall.

“We’re gonna be a family, and we’re gonna stick together,” he said.

For Timmons’ entire interview, head to the PFT Live homepage or download the show on iTunes.

    Too late.

The rest of the country is too busy laughing at Pittsburgh to really care about any insipid family comments.

    ______________

Well, I guess you can laugh now but possibly cry later on during the season like most years when the Steelers win against your team and land in the playoffs again.

I have been quite clear that I believe Harrison was completely wrong for saying what he did about Godell and his teammates, and should be fined and given a one game suspension. Those types of comments should be confined to the privacy of the lockerroom, and said person to person. But, no matter what anyone thinks about it now, this like most things will likely die down and pass as the season goes on. Then we’ll see who is laughing, later on. Good luck.

    GO STEELERS!!

Nice job today Lawrence – you deserve a grape soda and some hot wings!

Wow, racist much?? Good job LT, that’s how you show maturity. Harrison can learn a lot from the youngster!

  3. Meanwhile, with the arrest of Ced Benson and two more of his teammates all in the same week, it’s good to see the Bungles BEING the Bungles again.

    GO STEELERS!!!!!!

  4. Timmons is a smart guy who knows how to please both sides.

Though, “we’re going to be a family” made me laugh a little.

  5. Its funny how all the steelers Haters come out when the steelers mess up, but all I know is they shut up pretty damn quick when they see our trophy case!

How many rings you got home boy?
    Go steelers!

  6. the steelers are the family on the block where all the kids throw flaming bags of dog s**t on their porch every other night

  7. Why can’t the rest of the pittsburgh roster act more like Timmons/Troy….

seriously, even with the cheapshots, at least they’re not bone heads or idiots and they play a good game.

  8. Regardless of the idiotic comments made by infantile Steelers haters, knowledgeable fans around the NFL already recognize them as one of the league’s model franchises for its long term stability and success.

Having been a fan for almost 60 years, I can recall an interview that our original owner, Art Rooney, gave during the dynasty years of the late ’70’s. He said that the Steelers was a family business and the coaches, players, & staff were all part of the family.

Since the Rooney family had owned the Steelers for more than 40 years before having success, loyal fans that loved them as their hard hitting losers became beyond rabid as the Steelers re-made themselves into perennial winners.

The Rooneys showed the way for smart owners to leave the football decisions to the coaching staff and to have patience with those decisions. Over the last 43 years under three coaches, B&G have gone to eight Super bowls and won six with the family.
