In an apparent sign that the Minnesota Vikings expect the lockout to end soon, the team has gone back on its previous statement that it would move its training camp if the lockout didn’t end by July 18.

On June 15, the Vikings announced that if the lockout wasn’t over by July 18, they’d cancel plans to have training camp at their normal site, Mankato, and instead have it at their regular-season practice facility. But now July 18 has arrived, and the Vikings announced that no such decision has been made.

“Both parties remain hopeful that the team will be practicing in front of Vikings fans in Mankato this summer,” the Vikings and Minnesota State University at Mankato said in a joint announcement.

The Vikings’ announcement is just one more sign that NFL teams think the end of the lockout is approaching. We hope they’re right.
