Worst moments for Falcons

The Falcons only enjoyed five winning seasons from 1987-2007.

In that light, it’s pretty remarkable that G.M. Thomas Dimitroff and coach Mike Smith have pulled off three straight winning years.  Two of those years ended in a playoff losses, with one of them making our worst moments since 1987 video below.

Many of the Falcons’ darkest times have come off the field.  (Including Aundray Bruce getting arrested for pointing a pellet gun a pizza guy.) That one didn’t make our list. You’ll have to watch the damn thing to find out what did.

48-21 trouncing at home while being “unbeatable” at home…

Watching the Saints win the SB in 09 and then following it up with maybe the worst home playoff loss in NFL history. Too early to tell if Julio Jones will work out but it has the potential to rank up there.

Since 87…Trading Favre. I would say hiring Glanville, but at least he got them cool uniforms.

When you get around to the Giants, here’s their worst moments since 87 in chronological order: The 87 season; Ray Handly (over Belichick); Dave Brown; Cedric Jones; Thomas Lewis; Minnesota 98; San Fran 02; Philly 10.

Smith is right about the Packer game. It was only 5 or 6 plays, those 5 or 6 TOUCHDOWN PLAYS!!!

And the only reason the 48-21 score was so close was because Green Bay settled for two field goals late in the game and Atlanta was able to obtain a totally meaningless touchdown in the second half. That was a blowout and I loved every second of it.

Failcons go no better than 9-7 this year. You can write it down.

Obviously no one can read the future but there is a very good chance that the Jones trade will be looked back on as a very bad moment. There is just so many things that can go wrong when you put all your eggs in one basket. He may get hurt, Ryan may get hurt, injuries on the O-line, no running game… Even if everyone stays healthy Jones will have to be the next Jerry Rice to justify giving that much to get him.

Could have used the time Mike Smith said they lost a game because the sun was in their eyes.

Vick should be in prison for what he did to the Falcons and Mr Blank.

Does Lisa Left-Eye Lopez burning down Andre Rison’s house count?

i dont get why ppl take one game and blow it out of proportion, there was like 5-6plays where rodgers escaped sacks to make 1st down plays and ryan throwing 2 picks 1 being taken back to the house didnt help. its not like packers just totally outplayed atlanta and not to mention atlanta beat greenbay a few weeks earlier…..

Litany of pain, alright…..although Petrino’s defection actually helped, as Blank probably felt honor-bound to give him more time after the Vick betrayal. While the way he left was all-time weasel, it allowed the Falcons to clear the decks and bring in the current successful management team with no complications or conflicting loyalties…..

….Still conflicted about the 2010 playoff loss; Falcons played poorly, but Rodgers may have played the best game I’ve ever seen from an NFL QB……At least the team now has no illusions about which areas need to improve, and have taken a bold stroke to address one of them (Jones); we’ll just have to see how well it works….
