Can any of you mental midgets read? This was a LEAGUE rule, not a rule demanded by players. Keep irrationally bashing DeSmith or the players, but this came from the NFL offices.

I figure this will create at least 64 more jobs. The
team and the players for each team will need to hire someone to keep track of padded and unpadded practices. And if there is a dispute, more work for lawyers! Everybody wins….

Makes me thankful that I was an NFL fan in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s before all this watering down happened. One can only imagine what things will look like 20 years from now.

Gee with all this less work we won’t see so many off sides and false starts, being rested and not so tired. The stats will go through the roof with less balls not caught or fumbles. The games will be faster , they won’t need timouts or maybe do away with half times, more time to go out and spend all that cash.

Hmmm, so comments pointing out how the players are sissy spoiled crybabies are getting deleted, and there’s more thumbs up going to anti-owner comments than I’ve seen all offseason.

Something’s fishy on PFT, and it’s not just F lorios upper lip. (you have to spell it like that because comments mentioning his name are auto censored. Weird huh?)

As long as the play on the field does not deteriorate and the injuries don’t rise I don’t care. They can practice in a jogging suit if it works.

who cares. who is talking about 8th grade football?! This is the NFL. Biggest, strongest, quickest athletes in the world. Players are only getting bigger and stronger and faster. Probably HGH’ed out of their minds. I’d say they hit a little harder then little boys on your sons 8th grade football team. It’s about player safety. Longer careers. More time for fans to see their favorite players on the field. Less trauma to their bodies in the long term.

Wow…sounds like the players are making all the rules for practice. This is really going to be an offensive minded league now because all defenses will now be like the soft Wade Phillips style 2010 Dallas Cowboys. That is a first hand example of what will happen with the soft practice style.

Restrictions on excessive hitting in practice was a great addition. Not a greedy request by the players by any stretch.

Okay, so before this CBA, 70% of injuries occurred in practice, and the players used that as their grandstanding point. (Never mind that 85% of their total field time was on the practice field, that’s not relevant to them)

Now, with fewer practices (and more stringent injury policies), the statistic will skyrocket to (guessing here) 50-70% of injuries being in-game, and the owners will be able to argue that the players weren’t properly conditioned for the real hitting.

Brilliant. These might be the least savvy crop of players in NFL history. To quote Eddie Vedder – “Born on third, thought [they] hit a triple.”

I’m failing to see the “screw job” that the owners supposedly are doing according to the players the more details that come out about this new CBA. Sounds like a pretty player friendly deal. All for the 2% trade off, they get a rookie wage scale that will make that financial impact almost null to veteran players, reduced practices and OTAs, an extra billion in retiree fund over 10 years, guaranteed 15k annual increase in minimum wage, teams forced to spend 99% of the cap the first two years, protection for guys with overinflated contracts, no 18 game season without their approval…….

Unless they provide us with these hidden screw jobs they are ranting about, how can they not like this deal?

You know, I said I was going to shut up but, like the players, I guess I am just ticked enough to point out the obvious. Every player is going to complain about something. Scott complains that two a days make you soft, others complain two a days increase concussions. You have some players don’t want so much time off, others would not want to show up till the first game of the season. You’ve got 1900 people who want something different out of this CBA and everyone looking at the CBA for the first time is going to pick out the one thing that ticks them off, not the one thing they like. De Smith needs to shut players up until they have a chance to review the whole document and vote on it. Smith needs to get his peeps in line or the peeps need to get a new leader. A leader leads and a loser follows. Right now Smith is a loser. Right in the middle of all this, he has to show Robert Kraft how much he supports him by being at the funeral when honestly, Kraft would rather he be in Washington, getting his constituents in line, explaining why he negotiated the way he did, and that they need to accept this agreement. The appearance of Smith at the funeral is all PR as if Kraft’s wife would have passed in the middle of the season, De Smith would have showed up. Give me a break, get back to Washington and get to work and quit looking for reasons to hide from your constituents. Okay, unless the players continue to be morons, I will shut up.
