and Mike Wright missed half the season… pass rush blew chunks. TBC becomes invisible against capable offensive linemen. He makes hay against the likes of Buffalo and a rundown Pittsburgh.

I don’t care how many good corners we (may) have…they can’t cover for 15 seconds.

As it was reported it happened towareds the end of last season and team doctors advised surgery. He chose physical therapy. Looks like he should have had the surgery. Either way it should be healed in time for real games.

But they should sign MARK HERZLICH

Dude you don’t have to convince me, I’ve seen him in both his stints in NE. Never liked the guy as a player. He has a knack for doing the wrong thing at the worst possible time too. I hate sounding so mean because he’s probably a good dude and all but I rolled my eyes when they re-signed him. Not as much as I did with Mr. Oxycontin (Kaczur) but still.

Sounds like a lot of 49er sour grapes! Let’s hope Harbaugh will cure what ails you. A little Michigan Magic on the West Coast sidelines.

I agree with others though – why wait unit NOW??? Take care of business at the right time.

I don’t blame the workouts – these guys know how to work out. I blame the entire mess for not having sufficient medical oversight for months.

Right, because injuries NEVER occur in team organized OTAs. Let’s not be ignorant here.

That’s a very narrow view — at training camp and during team practices, players have taken and passed physicals *before* they’re permitted on the field — and there is a full medical staff and trainers on site.

None of that was part of these player organized sessions. More like pick-up games.

Worthless and dangerous in my view.

According to Tom E Curran on tonights Sports Sunday on ComcastSportsNet up here in Boston, TBC suffered this injury DURING last season. The problem is not that he’s injured but that he should have had the surgery in February like Brady and Ron Brace did so that he’d be ready to go once the lockout ended. There was no need to wait on the surgery. This is a case of “what were you thinking”? He should have never been participating in those team workouts for the same reason Leigh Bodden didn’t (ie he didn’t want to aggravate his recovery from surgery).

Lots of rumors that he was gonna be cut anyway… too high of a cap hit too little production. Might aswell let young players like Cunningham and Ninkovich develop.

If the Pats weren’t going to go out and sign someone in the free agency they need to do so now… I know Banta-Cain is not an elite pass rusher but he’s one of the most legitimate pass rushers that the Pats have (very scary thought I know!)

Too bad it’s not a rare affliction. They could name it Banta-Cain Syndrome. Which would certainly get those suffering from it a lot more respect that an “abdominal sprain”.
