Mara says Giants “will talk” about Plaxico Burress

At a time when receiver Plaxico Burress seems to be interested in every team except the Giants, the Giants may be interested in him.

Via Jeff Roberts of TrueBlue.com, Giants co-owner John Mara said during a CBA radio-tour victory lap that the Giants “certainly . . . will talk” about bringing Burress back, after his tenure with the team ended via two bullet holes to his leg — one going in, and one going out.

Of course, the conversation may consist of Mara bringing up Plaxico’s name, and coach Tom Coughlin laughing until he has urine in his shoes.

  1. Wouldn’t be the worst thing, could definitely help those young wide receivers and it would give Eli a weapon that he’s familiar with.

    This made my day.

  3. Why bother talking to a player that has shown no interest in returning to your team. Move on.

  4. Not happening. We’re fine with the guys we’ve got. Manningham has to step it up this year, and what better time than in a contract season. I’m confident he’ll rise to the occasion.

Steve Smith will be a Giant for life – he’s a fan favorite, a total class act, and a reception machine. And I think just about everyone realizes how absolute ridiculous Hakeem Nicks is, too.

We still have a ton of potential in guys like Barden, Cruz, Hagan, Hixon and the new guy, JJ. As a Giants fan, I’m not even considering signing any free agent WR, let alone one who absolutely crushed our chances at a Super Bowl run in 2008 for carrying a loaded gun in his sweatpants. We don’t want him.

And he’s not going to Philly, either. Not if they’re smart, anyhow. They have a very good thing going there, and nothing would make me happier than to see him ruin it. Constantly late for meetings, zero respect for anyone… he’s no Vick in terms of turning his life around, I promise you that. He’ll be a Houston Texan – he’s exactly what they need in a compliment WR to Andre Johnson.

  5. Plax made a bad mistake and has paid the price for it, he wants another chance and deserves another chance, he was an important part of the Giants and can be again. Plax is a Giant and that is exactly where I would like to see him again. So Giants, do the right thing and sign him up.

  6. I’m amazed any Giants fan would want him back. I guess we’ll take Tiki back if Bradshaw goes to Miami, right…? lol

  7. plax should be welcomed back. Coighlon could make him want to be back easily by calling him personally. just dont think he hawhat he did in 2007-08

  8. I just see this as due diligence by the Giants. A guy a few years removed from putting up big numbers in your offense? Why not talk about it? I doublt they’ll try to sign him though. Because who does he replace? He wouldn’t take Smith’s or Nicks’s spots. Is Plax going to sign as a 3rd receiver? Assuming he could take Manningham’s spot.

  9. Why is everyone assuming that this is the same Plexico that was such a retard by coming late to practice and being a malcontent? Prison changes a man. I’d be willing to bet that Burress has a better appreciation of his pre-prison life and I think he’s going to be a leader of whatever team signs him.

  10. Step 1: Let Steve Smith go somewhere else in FA.
    Step 2: Sign Plaxico
Step 3: Keep B. Jacobs and let Bradshaw go to MIA.
    Step 4: Sign Tiki Barber
    Step 5: Party like it’s 2008

Step 6: HIT THE LIKE BUTTON IF YOU WOULD
LOVE TO WATCH THIS GO DOWN!

Can somebody say “Nucking Futs?!?” Because that’s what the Giants would be if they let any of the above happen any time soon!

I guess that’s why nobody ever goes back. But wait, up to 67.5% are back in the slammer within three years of being released from prison depending on the study you want to cite. Maybe it doesn’t change a man all that much. Or maybe by “changes a man”, you mean… other ways.

    Uhh….who?

Is he the bizzaro version of Coughlin?

  13. Mona Lisa will stop smiling, Popeye will come out of the closet, there will not be a cows in Texas and you know that’s a heifer’s hangout and they’ll be no ugly on a monkey if Plexiglass signs with the Giants.

That train left the station when he shot himself in the NY nightclub. His giant career was great while it lasted; but Plex has got to move on; because the NY media would have a feeding frenzy were he to return to the Giants.

  14. No way. I see him in Cincinnatti. Or maybe Miami. But that hinges on whether he can still play close to the level he was at before his incident. I don’t see Plax in the NYG uniform again, and if I were him, I would be grateful.
