I live in Green Bay and have met Barnett several times. All I can say is he is a total dick in person. He is arrogant, condescending and rude.

Most of the players are very polite and friendly, not Barnett.

Good riddance.

Not a big surprise, but it is intersting to get this insight from the guys on Twitter… Now Daryn Colledge seems to be hinting on Twitter (1:16 PM PDT)that he might be gone (via unrestricted free agency)… Packers probably not interested in offerning him long term deal

Barnett was probably going to be a former Packer this year anyway, injury or not. While he performed OK in the Capers system, he was a poor fit. Especially with the emergence of younger players in the system. The chances of him signing with a 3-4 team are slim. Look for him to sign with a 4-3 team. His best fit might be the cover 2. I keep hearing Minnesota as a possible destination, but you might see Chicago make a run at him, considering they only have two LBs under contract.

Right, because you’ve come full circle as an NFL player when your team wins the Super Bowl while you are on IR. I agree he’ll go after the money, but tie goes to the better team because that ring doesn’t mean as much as it does to players who suited up for the Super Bowl.

That’s absolutely not the case. The front office/management team in place has told every former player face-to-face when they are released, it doesn’t matter who they were. A lot of teams have staffers inform the players when they are released, but even the guys in training camp have either been told directly by McCarthy (most of the time) or Thompson (rest of the time).

Also, with his samurai celebration, isn’t the obvious headline for this article “Packers say ‘Sayonara’ to Nick Barnett”?

I think it was “years” too late, imagine if we Had Nick Barnett in Superbowl 32. Be cool to have someone aside from Gravedigger and Reggie trying to tackle TD. Nothing against Sharper, but he can’t tackle.

Nicky B! Sorry to see him go, but he deserves to be a starter somewhere. In years 3 thru 5 of his career, I felt like he was shafted a little bit, by not making the probowl. Great Packer, as he played great for us during those years. I wish him the best of luck!

I hope they can trade him. Maybe for another unwanted player. Guys who are cut don’t provide the possibility of compensatory draft picks. Aaron Kampman’s contact ran out, so GB got a 4th round pick this year.
