Tully Banta-Cain’s second stint with the New England Patriots has come to an end.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Patriots have informed Banta-Cain that he will be released on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Banta-Cain played in 15 games for the Patriots last season, starting six and recording five sacks. His best season came in 2009, when he played in all 16 games and had 10 sacks.

Banta-Cain was a seventh-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2003 and played in New England through 2006. He then spent 2007 and 2008 with the 49ers before returning to the Patriots for two more years.
