Santana Moss stays in Washington

Santana Moss Pic AP

Santana Moss will return to the Redskins.

Adam Schefter of ESPN had the first report, and PFT has separately confirmed, that Moss has reached an agreement with the Redskins on a three-year deal worth $15 million and $6 million guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus.

Although several reports had suggested Moss would be playing elsewhere in 2011, he has consistently made it clear that he wanted to stay with the Redskins, saying on PFT Live in February that that’s his preference.

The 32-year-old Moss started all 16 games for the Redskins last season and led the team with 93 catches for 1,115 yards and six touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see whether the Redskins follow through on their plans to make a big play for free agent receiver Santonio Holmes now that they have their No. 1 receiver back in the fold.

Who’s gonna throw them the ball??

    Good deal for Washington.

Three years is the perfect length. He’s got enough gas for a couple more years.

Great move by the skins, time to get a true #1 WR , NT, ILB and try to resign Carlos Rogers or find a starting CB and dont forget the O-line. Use the money for the small pieces. Good future for the skins if they do that.

Nice $ for a 32 year old receiver.
I think this will work for both parties.

Good for Santana, he’s a “PLAYER”. HAIL

  6. doctorfootball says: Jul 26, 2011 6:28 PM

It’s gonna be fun watching Moss trying to catch those lame duck passes that Beck throws.

  7. footballfanman says: Jul 26, 2011 6:29 PM

Moss in the slot. Need a big man out wide.

  8. bucks12965 says: Jul 26, 2011 6:32 PM

3 more years of him spinning the ball on the ground after electrifying 8 yard gains.

  9. omegalh says: Jul 26, 2011 6:32 PM

Moss and Holmes/Rice/Edwards would be good wings for a young QB.

  10. athletesfoot101 says: Jul 26, 2011 6:33 PM

They are still after Holmes, but damn they lost out on Yanda. Moss will be in the slot, where he could be deadly.

perfect…..i have him on one of my fantasy teams hoping he’d be somewhere with a decent QB..

  12. eaglesfootballfan says: Jul 26, 2011 6:37 PM

Why would Moss want to stay with the Redskins. Who is going to throw him the ball. He is an idiot.

  13. schmitty2 says: Jul 26, 2011 6:40 PM

He was a steal for me in my PPR Fantasy league last year

  14. coolj23 says: Jul 26, 2011 6:46 PM

Who cares? Not one of the top guys out there.

Aging NFL player signs for above market value for Redskins. Weird.

  16. mistrezzrachael says: Jul 26, 2011 6:49 PM

Surprised @ this one…Would have thought that he’d go to team where he’d have a chance to win.

This is alot more money than anyone else would pay…so reeks of player just signing for highest $$$.

Great, he has his $$$…now lets see how he handles awful QB’s throwing balls in places that gets him killed..Something Randy Moss found out after he mouthed his way out of NE.

Not too many QB’s in NFL have ability to put ball where WR can catch it, and not get killed…see Brady to Welker.

Single brightest spot on our offense!!!!

    Tana Man!!!!!!

Why would the redskins sign the overhyped under producing Holmes ??? Moss is already the same guy with better production and less off feild issues.

I don’t get the hype around moss. He isn’t in my top 3 free agent recivers. Rice, the guy from SD whos name i forget and randy moss/T.O. i’d take all three before Holmes. In fact I may take braylon Edwards or Plax ahead of him.

This guy is going to get an insane signing bonus because he made a great catch three years ago. i don’t get it. Has he even ever broke a 1000 yards in a season ? how bout 10 touchdowns?? someone is going to waste a lot of money on this guy.

Hate, Hate, Hate, Yall should be invited to the Haters Ball.

    Good for you Santana..

“It will be interesting to see whether the Redskins follow through on their plans to make a big play for free agent receiver Santonio Holmes”

What Redskins plan? All I remember is Jason La Canfora making a load of shot in the dark guesses, yet again, The fact that he ascribed them to mythical inside sources doesn’t make it a Redskins plan.

I suspect they might be the same inside sources that predicted the Redskins were so interested in Blaine Gabbert that they were desperately trying to trade up to the 2nd pick in the draft.

    @andyreidisfat

TO has a blown ACL and you still want him? While Andy Reid is fat, he can diet. What can you do about being stupid?

  22. skinsrollyou says: Jul 26, 2011 7:07 PM

Santana clause is a true skin. Bit of a punk but I love him nonetheless. Try to convince portis to come back for a minimum contract. best blocking back in the league

  23. gfan8611 says: Jul 26, 2011 7:11 PM

Hate this guy (jk) but it’s was because of his production in the league that Ernie Accorsi wasted a draft pick on his do nothing brother. Took forever to get rid of Sinorice ” I only see the field if the rest of the WR are comatose” Moss.

  24. sschmiggles says: Jul 26, 2011 7:43 PM

Wow, nice deal for the Redskins. Moss is a very solid receiver. If he were on the Patriots or Colts, he’d be getting 100+ receptions a year. And he has the speed to go deep.

Just gotta get an oline and a QB who makes smart decisions now. Worry about the “franchise” QB later.

  25. procre8te says: Jul 26, 2011 8:02 PM

I am so pumped for this. Santana is such a gamer. Tough, honest and a true cowboy Killa! Welcome Back Tana!

  26. theblowtorchreview says: Jul 26, 2011 8:22 PM

Great…..we still get to see him do that stupid ball spinning thing he does everytime he catches a 6 yard pass.

Who cares? The Redskins have already run the white flag up the pole for 2011 by naming Beck the starter.

  27. moneymike23 says: Jul 26, 2011 8:42 PM

Atleast its better than overpaying for Santonio Holmes, Rice, or Edwards.

  28. bturner032002 says: Jul 27, 2011 8:53 AM

hey dont forget leonard hankerson broke michael irvins and andre johnsons records at the U and he is 6’2 209lbs 4.4 40.

Cant wait for him to learn some plays cause I think he will become the skins #1 receiver for a long time.
