Vick loses endorsement after accepting deal with competitor

Eagles quarterback Mike Vick has been piling up endorsements lately.  And he has accumulated so many that he reportedly agreed to deals with two competing companies.

According to Bloomberg.com (via SportsBusiness Daily), Fuse Science, Inc. has dumped Vick after the quarterback signed an endorsement deal with MusclePharm.  Vick had signed a contract with Fuse Science earlier in the month.

“Subsequent to our entering into and announcing the exclusive agreement, we learned that on or about July 20, 2011, Mr. Vick entered into an endorsement agreement with another company engaged in the same product categories, notwithstanding the exclusivity provisions of our agreement,” Fuse Science’s parent company, Double Eagle, said in a filing with the SEC, per the report.  “This created an unacceptable conflict and, accordingly, on July 25, 2011, we terminated the agreement with Mr. Vick.”

It’s the equivalent of Vick cutting a deal with Reebok or UnderArmour in the wake of signing a deal with Nike.

Hope he’s smarter than to just sign endorsement contracts all willie-nillie just to make a few bucks. It’s going to make him look bad in the long run.

No, the latter would be far more costly.

Let’s face facts – dude probably never heard of either place nor used their products, so how would he know.

  14. palakerfan says: Jul 26, 2011 4:29 PM

And I doubt he’s much into reading contracts either… “I sign where for da money?”

It’s most likely the job of Vick’s agent to figure this stuff out. So Vick really shouldn’t fall into any blame.

People make mistakes, Chief, and this particular guy has admitted that mistake and paid for it. Where do you draw your line of forgiveness? Line cutters and people who rip the tag off mattresses get forgiveness, but everyone else is damned for eternity?

Man, I’d love to be your boss at work

Perhaps we should spend $3M on capital punishment or not allow him to play in the NFL (because like voting, the NFL is some sort of privilege you get as a US citizen).

Mistakes are unintentional, like spilling a glass of milk. Committing inhumane, criminal acts cannot be classified as a mistake since it was completely intentional the entire time he was doing it. It’s idiotic to use the term “mistake” for what Vick did. Of course I completely agree that since he’s paid his debt to society he’s entitled to the second chance he’s receiving. But don’t belittle his crime by calling it a mistake.

Of course I completely agree that since he’s paid his debt to society he’s entitled to the second chance he’s receiving. But don’t belittle his crime by calling it a mistake.

    ————————————

First of all, the term mistake doesn’t have any direct relation to intention. I can choose to do something today and realize TOMORROW that it was a mistake. In your example, spilling the glass of milk was an ACCIDENT (which does have a heavy correlation to intention or lack thereof) and a mistake. In Vick’s case, this was no accident but he made a mistake…. I mean, isnt that the definition of mistake: Admitting you were wrong and knowing you wouldn’t do it the same way again.

If you spent some time researching and reading into Mike Vick and this story, you would know that he was raised in an environment that promotes Dog Fighting and probably some even worse habits.

This does not excuse what he did, nor does it make it right. What it does do is show that Mike Vick is not a crazy, sociopath like so many make him out to be…. but instead a highly impressionable person who made several bad decisions that were a MISTAKE. Even more important, he’s making changes to prevent it in his life and others.

  53. bigbwoy000 says: Jul 26, 2011 6:37 PM

Just a MISTAKE huh? Highly impressionable huh?

MISTAKE-S not mistake, MISTAKES. They were multiple & they were MANY:

Like when he used the name Ron Mexico,
    Like when he spread herpes,
    Like when he smoked marijuana,
Like when he had that fake water bottle,
Like when he didn’t have anything to do with what went on at his house when they went there on drug search warrant,
Like when he knew nothing about dog fighting when that evidence was found during the search warrant,
Like when he in some of the most cruel & evil ways possible for six years, multiple times a week, with his bare hands, abused & killed sick, hurt bleeding & crying animals for fun
Like when he lied to the commissioner,
Like when he lied to Mr. Blank,
Like when he gave the finger to paying customers,
Like when he filed for bankruptcy,

None of this because he’s a bad person, anyone in your life that did all of things above, you’d still welcome into your homes. He only did them because he’s highly impressionable. All of those things because he’s just “highly impressionable”. What a defense, highly impressionable…

If he wasn’t enrolled in the Andy Reid day care facility, he’s already be back in jail. His birthday party last year showed us that, This isn’t a good person making a “few bad decisions”. The best part is, if he played for an NFC east rival, Filthy Philly fans would be out in full force, screaming what a POS he is, but since he’s here, lets “forgive”.

Actually you’re wrong. The Dawg Killa said in an interview a while back he would change NOTHING about his life if he could. So that tells me he would still torture and murder dogs for his own perverse enjoyment. I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating……..the man belongs in a mental hospital getting treatment for his illness.

Not to mention a misarable human being for what he did to those poor dogs.So I guess just because casey Anthony served her time for lying to law enforcement that we should accept her and give her a break also?Oh no..sorry Casy is white so we have another set of rules. If you are black then you are never guilty..and if you are you should walk free..
