Braylon Edwards says the Jets don’t want him

AP

Braylon Edwards appears to be on the way out in New York, writing on Twitter today that he doesn’t think the Jets want him.

“I would love to be a Jet but the feeling doesn’t seem to be mutual with the management.” He later deleted his tweet, but Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger was among the reporters who had already spotted it. (Note: Once something has been published online, it never really disappears.)

All indications are that the Jets made Santonio Holmes their top priority, and after signing Holmes, they won’t spend the kind of money it would take to sign Edwards as well. So we can expect him to test the free agent market.

Edwards had more to say on Twitter, having a laugh about getting sentenced to probation and community service for drunk driving.

“All these court appearances I should have practiced law,” Edwards tweeted. “Lol quick joke to lighten up my mood, bare with me the storm will be over shortly.”

Edwards then pleaded for some team to step up and make him an offer “so we can get this thing moving forward.”

For Edwards, moving forward will apparently mean moving away from the Jets.

  1. did he wear another stupid a$$ bright shirt to court today? has this a$$ clown ever heard of acting/speaking/dressing in a humble manner?

braylon will go to an awful team and be awful

  2. Hey Braylon; this is your wake up call; teams want talented receivers that are not Diva’s. Where ever you end up playing, it won’t be for #1 receiver money!

  3. Well, they already paid Holmes elite WR money. Not much room left for another overrated WR like Edwards.

  4. like i said
he put the turd in turd watch

am i alone in thinking he gets a 1 year deal?

  5. After encouraging his followers to “bare with me”, Bray On was promptly charged with enticing minors into lewd and unlawful acts.

  6. Here’s where teams need to pounce if they are starvng for wide receiver help.

Panthers, Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks (if they don’t get Rice), Vikings (if they lose Rice), Bears, and Chiefs. I might have left some out, but you get the point.

  7. No wonder no team is jumping at the chance to sign him. He’s not acting very mature and acting like DWI is nothing and he’ll probably do it again.

  8. He’s one parking ticket away from jail time. He wants big $$, and no one wants to commit to that.

Braylon, you’re in a tough spot.

  9. Looks like bralyon is “dropping” to his knees and begging for someone to pick him up. Good thing they “dropped” all serious chargers on his dui.

  10. It will be hard for him to sign anywhere…you have to be able to hold on to the pen long enough to sign your name.

  11. Some people just don’t get that they create 90% of their own problems. Clearly Braylon doesn’t get it.

  12. I just don’t get how this guy is considered a top-tier player.

The dude had ONE big year. ONE.

    He’s basically Chris Chambers.

  13. Wow, Braylon you’re a funny guy! I never realized how funny DUIs are.

All those people who’ve lost friends & family members to drunk drivers just need to lighten up.

  14. While the Jets were able to sign Santonio Holmes and are seemingly involved in negotiations with Nnamdi Asomugha, I believe the real story is all the players that they are going to lose. The offense will not be as good minus Braylon Edwards, Brad Smith and Damien Woody. Smith, by the way, is also a great special teams player along with Steve Weatherford who is also a free agent.

On defense some of their free agents are Antonio Cromartie, Shaun Ellis, Trevor Pryce, Jason Taylor, Eric Smith, Brodney Pool and James Ihedigbo, all of whom were contributors. Add to that the retirement of Kris Jenkins who might not have played much at all the past two seasons but leaves them with only one player at the essential position that is nose tackle.

  15. They dont want you because you cant catch.

    Your lazy.

    and you get DUI’s.

I must admit though you had me fooled after that big year in Cleveland. I had high hopes for you. Now you are an epic fail.

Maybe the Skins will sign you to add you to the rest of their overpaid scrub receivers.

  16. I am always confused with Jets news. Yesterday Sanchez wants to rework his contract to keep all his recievers followed by its the key to a super bowl.

Now Edwards can’t catch a cold.

Not sure which one it is

  17. “Bare” with me if I doubt he will get the kind of offers he’s expecting.
2nd or 3rd receiver somewhere. I’m not even sure he could be the #1 with the Raiders.

  18. Prima donna, DUI, violated probation, drops more passes than Terrell Owens.

    Who wouldn’t want you, Braylon?

  19. hope braylon comes back. he had a lot of big plays for the jets last season. my two favorite were against the pats. 1) catching a td pass over butler in week two and then doing the dougie in his face. 2) dragging mccourty and merriweather along with him into endzone in the jets/playoffs

  20. I love how everyone comments trying to poke fun at Braylon Edwards dropping the ball, yes he had a history of it in Cleveland, but you should probably look again, last year he was the most surehanded Jets receiver, a WHOLE 1 dropped pass…… all season…. get your facts straight

of that group i hope ellis, smith, ihedigbo and pool come back. nose tackle wont be a problem since devito and pouha can both play it. also, the jets drafted a nose tackle and ropati pitoitua is coming back from his injury. we have plenty of beef up front. pool leaving would be the biggest loss imo.

  22. Prediction: Braylon signs with the Ravens and Ray Rice doesn’t talk about his DUIs.

  23. Making jokes about DUI????? Where is God-del now….this talk as if he is being picked on…then The Jets don’t want him….maybe he needs to take a good long look in the mirror.

  24. wow if the jets dont even want his baggage is any team going to want him? well, i mean besides the raiders.

  25. Hopefully the Jets find a way to bring him back. He is an awesome 2nd receiver and a great compliment to holmes. He made some BIG catches last year. Go get him back Rex!
