Broncos bidding for Brandon Mebane

Drew Brees AP

Perhaps the best under the radar defensive tackle available in this year’s free agent agent class is getting attention from the team most desperate for defensive tackles.

Brandon Mebane and the Broncos are involved in “serious” negotiations, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.  The Seahawks are also trying to keep Mebane, and ESPN reported that the Saints could be interested.

We think Mebane will get a surprisingly big contract.  There just aren’t many quality young defensive linemen and the Broncos desperately need run-stuffing help.

I’m a Broncos fan. After missing out on Cofield and DeAngelo Williams, we are going to get Mebane.

We will overpay grossly if necessary. We need him badly.

C’MON SAINTS! Get this guy and we have potentially one of the best D-Lines in the league!

I hope the Seahawks can work out a deal with Mebane. It’s been a fun ride watching him develop.

This is great news! They need this guy in the worst way. He’s young, has a lot of upside, and is better than anything they have on the roster at DT.

    Get it done!

If Hawks lose Mebane it will be ok we still have TJack and Leinart.

Pay the man, Hawks!! One of the better unknown players in the league.

Mebane gave the Niners hell…he won’t be missed by me…good luck Denver! Guy is a sold 4-3 DT.

I would like to have Mebane… I would REALLY like to trade Orton to Miami for Randy Starks.

Cofield would have been nice, but they didn’t target him. DeAngelo Williams just got bat-sh!t crazy money to stay in Carolina, whch is too rich for what his services bring. Mebane is young and good. He’s worth it. Just keep your fingers crossed!

The Broncos need a headline player in the middle of their defensive line. They have the biggest hole in the league right up the middle and their resent history stopping the run is well known. After missing out in the draft, they need to get a big time playmaker in the middle. GET HIM BRONCOS!

I have a feeling a lot of 4-3 teams will be in on Mebane. He’s simply a solid starting DT, able to shoot the gaps, but stout enough against the run to not be a liability. The Bears, if they had the money to spend, would be wise to target him and place him next to, say, Anthony Adams, inside, but I doubt the Bears have the money or desire to heavily pay for a DL guy.

I knew the Broncos would go after him. I really hope the Hawks bring him back, losing Mebane will be a big hit to the D line.

I sure hope the Broncos land this guy.
