Wow so the Titans only plan to win 7 games this season, while I don’t understand the strategy who am I to question a professional NFL franchise? Cause obviously 7-9 gets you to the playoffs in the AFC South. It’s not like there are better teams in the division right? Wait there are my bad.

Hass aint what he used to be hes numbers have declined over the last 3 years as has his body. But, you cant teach experience. Your O-Line is much better than ours has been so I think he should remain healthy and put up some good number for you over the next couple of years.

This is a great pickup for Locker. He gets to learn from the QB he grew up watching and hopefully in a couple years know enough to have a successful career in the NFL.

on a side note…how sucky would it be to go from seattle to tennessee?

Maybe, maybe not.
According to what I’ve heard, the main reason Hass turned down Seattle’s 2 year offer pre lockout (which remained the same offer post lockout) is that he wanted more years/guaranteed money. If Tenn gave him that and Sea wouldn’t it’s a no brainer. And really I am not sure Seattle, despite having won their division last year, is that much better of a team than Tenn right now anyway.

Loved the idea of Hasselbeck to the Titans but really wasn’t convinced Hasselbeck would be interested. I think he’s probably the best option out there for a transitional QB who is capable of winning games and doesn’t bring any real baggage. I just hope his body holds up.

Already impressed by Locker’s maturity and seems like he has a great work ethic, and I like the intangibles Hasselbeck adds to the mix.

Titans have a long way to go with free agency especially shoring up the defensive side of the ball (including making decisions on their own guys), but this is a nice tone-setter.

There us a reason Holmgren didn’t want Hasselbeck mentoring Colt McCoy. Matt is a notorious poor decision maker which has led to his moniker in Sea if being the turnover machine (averages 2.5 a game)…signing is good for him, great for Seahawks, bad for Titans

Titans made a good move. The multi-year deal sends a message to Jake Locker — if you want to play, take it away from him.

That’s football.

I’m a die hard Seahawk fan, I am sad to see him go but the Titans should have a few good years with Matt. He had swiss cheese o-line for a couple of years and took a beating (last year it wasn’t bad in pass protection) When he is in rhythm he’s as good as any QB like he displayed in the playoff game against the Saints. Class act and couldn’t be a better mentor for Jake Locker.

If I’m remembering correctly, Hasselbeck had his best years when his offense was able to establish a running game (S. Alexander). I may be in the minority, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he had a breakout year.

As a Seahawks fan, I agree that Hasselbeck would have been a better choice than Whitehurst/Jackson/Leinart…for THIS YEAR.

Seattle isn’t about this year, though. They need someone who can step up and lead the team for the next several years. Keeping Hass around means that we’d likely never get to see what Whitehurst can do. At this point, Jackson and Leinart are about as good as they could hope for for second-and-third string QBs, and who knows, one of them may turn things around, given the chance.

If they all wash out, though, Seattle may be in Luck.
