Plaxico, Giants visit is scuttled due to Transition Rules

plaxico-300x168

Last night, the Giants and receiver Plaxico Burress decided to get together. The only problem? Under the 2011 Transition Rules, they can’t until Friday at 6:00 p.m. ET.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello provided earlier this morning a somewhat cryptic response to the question of whether get-togethers may occur. “Can’t visit teams today,” Aiello told PFT via e-mail.

The response was a bit cryptic, since it potentially implies that visits can occur away from team facilities.

Bob Glauber of Newsday reports that, as applied to Burress and the Giants, it means that there will be no visit. Per Glauber, no visits are permitted until Friday.

Thus, for now, any discussions between Burress and Big Blue must happen via phone.

Of course, this raises the question of how the Panthers were able to send roughly 45 percent of the organization to Miami on Tuesday to persuade defensive end Charles Johnson to re-sign with the team. Aiello has yet to respond to our e-mail raising that question.

Hey, at least we’re no longer peppering him with e-mails about the lockout.
