Ron Edwards signs on with Panthers

The Panthers have quickly filled a few major holes on their defensive line.

A day after signing Charles Johnson to a massive contract, the team picked up former Chiefs defensive tackle Ron Edwards for a lesser price. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Edwards will get $8.25 million over three years.

Edwards  was a solid performer in Kansas City, but the Chiefs apparently didn’t want to overpay to bring him back.  They could use help at defensive tackle.

  1. I’ll take it. Big, experienced body to keep the guards off of Beason. He will be a nice mentor for our DT draft picks McClain and Fua. Now lets get a CB and a WR.

  2. Good pick up for Carolina. Bad loss for the Chiefs. Unless someone young steps up or a free agent is added, there is a huge hole in the middle of the Chiefs D-line.

  3. I checked out a Chiefs message board and Chiefs fans seem to have liked Edwards. They are saying he produced nicely even though he was out of position in a 3-4 the last few years.

  4. I’ll never understand why fans of other teams leave negative messages on other teams news posts. I personally don’t give a crap what happens In green bay or pittsburgh. The panthers are becoming the most hated team in the league. I kinda like it.

  5. We just resigned Deangelo Williams (He agreed to terms at least). Happened like 3 minutes ago per Steve Reed on WFNZ 610.
