It’s not the end of the world that Rice left. He was a good receiver when healthy. He improved a lot in his time but you can’t justify paying him that much yet. The Favre year was nice but his only 16 gm season. The other seasons aren’t too good stat wise even though Rice showed flashes of what he offers IF healthy. Whitehurst didn’t show much last year and could eventually lose the job to Tarvaris if he can’t put up #’s with that WR group and Marshawn. Seattle should be good for next 5 years but vikes ain’t that far away. Seattle is still seeing the effects of Mike Holmgren just like the Pack did before them. We would be saying the same thing about my vikes if we got Holmgren. Seattle has had recent success while the vikes have had success all throughout it’s history. We’ll be bad this year. 6-10 at best but we will get a good draft pick next year and rebuild. We still have best pure running back in league, Harvin, and now TE’s shancioe and rudolph. Our D is what lacks and we will address that. Majority of teams have their down years. Look at how hard Raiders fell off after SB. Titans were 13-3 two years ago. Cowboys were there. Eff everyone of the people who hate on the Vikes and their fans. Your team ain’t perfect so stop hating.

I love the morons who say Seattle is where receivers go to die and they bring up Branch, Burleson, and Douchmandzadeh… Get real. Branch and Burly did pretty well in Seattle… but they couldn’t stay healthy. Hardly Seattle’s fault. Douchmandzadeh? Yeah, he really left Seattle for Baltimore and scorched the NFL last year, didn’t he?

BMW went to Seattle and resurrected his career. Stokley had a great year in Seattle in the twilight of his career.

And why do you bitter Viking fans assume Jackson is the starter in Seattle? Has PC made that announcement that nobody but people in Minnesota heard? It’s Whitehursts job to lose.

The Vikings have been to the Super Bowl four times, once as “NFL Champion” when they were defeated by the then AFL Champion Kansas City Chiefs. They then won three NFC Championships after the merger (would have been four if Drew Pearson had been called for the push-off), on their way to becoming the Buffalo Bills of the 1970s.

Yes, the 1970s….the last time the Vikes went to the Super Bowl was Seattle’s first year in the league.

Peterson can cover Williams OR Rice. He may be good, but no one’s good enough to cover two people.

Since the ‘Nulls shipped DRC to Philly, whoever Peterson isn’t covering will be covered by Greg Tolar. As a ‘Hawks fan, I’ll take that matchup.

This is good news for Vikes fans. Rice is an over rated one year wonder from when a first ballot HOFer had his best season. Now he’s got T-junk throwing him the ball. LOL!! Remember folks, Vikings placed a 1st rounfd tender on Rice. I’ll take the 1st round pick from the Seahawks anyday over the one year wonder….that pick has a good chance of turning into the 1st overall pick next year. Don’t worry Vikes fans, and SKOL!!

Im glad he’s gone. He had one pretty good season. He waited until basically the season started to have his surgery, wasting 6 months of off season time and when he was cleared to return he cried about not being ready (although again, he was cleared) then had to be told either come back or go on IR.

Rice is a great player. Good luck in Seattle.

He really screwed the Vikings last year though by waiting until training camp to have surgery on his hip when he was told by 2 doctors to have it done in Feb. He was then cleared by doctors for the Bears game but sat out until the next week. That didn’t sit well with ownership & now he is gone.

When healthy the guy is tits.

41 million for a WR who was only healthy for one season out of four, and only ever had one good season? Seems like a bit of a stretch to me. Sidney Ricce is a stud who could be one of the top WRs in the league… but he won’t be because he can’t stay healthy and with Tavaris Jackson at QB, his performance will never match up to that contract.

Did anyone else catch that 41 million is the same amount they paid to Nate Burleson after the Vikings used the poison pill and 41 million the swipe Steve Hutchenson?

When was the last time the viklings won 2 playoff games in one season? (It was decades ago)

How many vikling coaches are over .500 in the playoffs? (none) Pete Carroll is .500 with the Seahawks.

Well, I won’t say I’m happy to see Sid go, but at the same time, that is a lot more money than I expected him to get. I had about $6 mil/yr figured, max, and less years, for a guy who only really has one year to show thus far. Good luck, Sid, and try to get on the field a little more often.
