I’m glad the football is back, but the Chiefs are once again making no splash in free agency. We had the 31st payroll against the cap for the past 2 years. There is plenty of room to sign big names, but it looks like another year of mediocrity.

not a KC fan at all, but great teams rarely make a splash in the Offseason of a large magnitude.....it seems like pioli is following a plan because that team is becoming pretty decent quickly it looks like.

The Colts will bring in quarterback Nate Davis on a two-year deal. The former 49er looked promising last preseason.

Yeah, he was promising enough to get traded to the Seahawks after the same promising pre-season who thought he looked promising enough to dump after one year. Guess pre-season play really means a lot... just like when the 49ers went undefeated in the preseason and then lost their first 5 games.

@eagleswin - I don't necessarily think Derek Anderson can be a star or even starter in the NFL. What he can be is a functional backup. Last I checked thats something the Eagles could probably use with the injury prone Vick at the healm and a strong urgency to kick Kevin Kolb out the door.

Please, don't everyone forget -- it was starting Max Hall instead of John Skelton that cost the

10. The Colts will bring in quarterback Nate Davis on a two-year deal. The former 49er looked promising last preseason.
-----------------------------------------------
Compared to Curtis Painter, my granny would look promising. Davis performed well in college but will never fill Mannings shoes (or helmet - it's the cerebral part he may be lacking.)

1. The Cardinals will put quarterback Derek Anderson out of his misery by cutting him Thursday. Any other decision would have been a shock.

--------------------------

Maybe Wisenhunt realized that he's not a QB genius after all. To bad it cost the Cardinals a wasted season to figure out how bad Derek Anderson is.

I hate to be a broken record because I really don't know how good or bad Leinhart would be if given the reins of a team for a whole season but Whisenhunt showed more confidence in a waste like Derek Anderson than he ever did in Leinhart. He essentially cleared the decks for Anderson and told him you are our guy.

The only question is if there are any more "QB gurus" out there who think with the right coaching Anderson can be a star.
