Will Herring heads to Saints

The Saints’ thin linebacker group is now slightly less thin.

Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times reports Will Herring will leave the Seahawks to join New Orleans.

A fifth-round pick in 2007, Herring has primarily been a special teamer in Seattle.

He started six games in 2009 with 40 tackles.

The picture is more interesting than this news story.

    Very mediocre.

6 starts and 40 takles isn’t too shabby. If they got him on the cheap, that’s probably going to wind up being a nice value pick up.

don’t forget he had 10 more games that he didn’t start to help accumulate those 40 tackles. not impressive. but in all seriousness, what seahawk is?

Saints brass must have liked what they saw during last year’s playoff game. We’ll see. I’m hoping Casillas will grab a starting LB spot this year, he looked awesome last year before the injury.

Drew Brees didn’t throw any INTs in that game.

Seriously…. Will Herring?! Besides Fujita why has the Sean payton/Micky Loomis regime just completely refused to sign legit Free Agent Linebackers… Dan Morgan, Simenoux, Danny Clark, Anthony Waters, Scott Shanle, etc… Seriously hope Martez and Casillas can step up bc we will never make a move for a proven vet, instead we sign special teams/backup type LB’s. I wonder who we wont be able to resign bc of this guy.

The Saints special teams needs to be improved big time, that was the reason for this signing.

Herring is a great special teamer and a good backup.

He could probably even start for a few teams.

Good pickup signing for any team.
