idyeagle,

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Smith in the same category as Flacco or Sanchez? Smith will now be in the NFL 7 years this season, and he failed to throw more TD passes in his best year than Sanchez did in his first 2 years, and Smith threw more TD passes in his best year than Flacco ONLY in Flacco’s rookie year. Smith also has a very weak arm compared to Sanchez and definitely has a weak arm compared to Flacco.

------------------------------------------------

Obviously Flacco is a better quarterback then Smith, but Sanchez? Really? And you prove it by comparing touchdowns over two years with Sanchez with only one year of Smith? I think you were trying a little too hard to prove your point.

It's true that last year Sanchez had 17 tds to Smith's 14, but let's put that in context. Sanchez also had 170 more attempts then Alex Smith, throwing 507 times to Smith's 342. Suddenly that number seems far less impressive, especially when you take into account how inaccurate Sanchez was. While Smith wasn't lighting up the boards with only 59.6% completions, Sanchez had a completion of 54.8, one of the worst in the NFL (only Jimmy Clausen and and Derek Anderson were worse). In addition Smith had more yards per average then Sanchez, with Sanchez only averaging 6.49 yards per completion and Smith averaging 6.93. Taking into account that the Jets were playoff contenders while the 49ers weren't able to separate themselves from the worst division in football, Sanchez's performance all around has been miserable. This despite having far superior supporting players Sanchez was still outperformed by Alex Smith. Alex Smith would be an upgrade for the Jets.

How many times I have heard "look out this year, Alex smith is Goin to be great". But I must say "flashes of greatness" is the funniest thing I have heard thus far. He can pay me 2,ooo dollars I have wasted on football package with direct tv to watch him suck for 7 years since they over paid him with this new contract. Sorry bro but after 7 years you can play like a pro or run out of bounds short of the 3rd down every game. They guy is no threat down field so every team stack the line. You can't blame the OL for that. And you can't blame the defense when you have 6 3rd down conversions all game. Wake up dude he's horrible.

so many idiots on here, its quite amusing.

Nnamdi will make any team, any team better, for the record. he is the best player at his position in the NFL.

Nate Clements is trash. he is a reliable #2 corner. and when i say reliable, i mean he will get burned regularly. always giving up the deep ball, the short ball, the intermediate ball. he might be the best tackler in the NFL at CB but that isnt important at all. he gets beat, beat, and beat again. he never lines up against teams #1 wrs regularly and is a better slot cb.

with that said, the 9ers could sign Joseph and that would be an immediate upgrade as well. just not as much as Nnamdi.

He will unequivocally be gone next year. Back to the topic, I will gladly take Clements in Dallas. We could use a guy to push Jenkins and/or Newman. Is cutting him a slap in the face enough by the Niners to make him leave is the question. Time will tell, but I would say him staying in SF will be 50/50 at best, as he will have interest on the open market.

Kind of off subject, but all of you Alex Smith haters are going to be eating your words...watch.

He now has a coach who will actually coach him and put him in a position to succeed. I saw flashes of greatness out of him and he has the intangibles to be better than average. Maybe not a superstar, but he can be in the same category as a Flacco or Sanchez.

Write it down all you thumbs down guys, write it down!

It wasn't that Clements couldn't cover that has led to the play of the past few seasons.

It was the fact that the coaches were expecting a CB who is best used as a press cover CB to do well when giving 5-10 yard cushions. He was effective when allowed to use press coverage on a big time WR but got burned badly thanks to soft coverage.

What was Clements salary going to be this year?
-------------------------------------------------
it was going to be about 7 1/2 mil + 7 mil in incentives. I'm assuming the niners offered a paycut down to 3-4 mil and he said no. Well, good luck getting more than that anywhere else when he gets beat deep in just about every game and when he gets INTs he drops them. he wont get more than 5 mil anywhere and if he does, i feel sorry for that team.

Look at the facts, there are almost no teams that have come in with a new offensive, defensive and special teams scheme and go to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl....The Coach and GM know this, so they've got to be smart, you go spending a ton of money this year like a guy I remember MIKE NOLAN....trying to buy a good team and you screw up your club for years to come....Personally I hope they only sign guys with good value, don't give in to BS hold outs, and play it safe for the first few years while they install their schemes and put themselves into a position where they are only a few players away...at that time go spend big bucks on a game changer in free agency....As Niner fans we want a quick road back to greatness but it doesn't work that way....I'm personally willing to sit back for a few years and give these guys time to make this team great again.

You fans from other teams that want #21 know nothing about him. Probably never even seen him play.

#21 going to Texas makes no sense. Going to SF even less sense, because the Raiders paid him more than anybody is going to pay him, and the Raiders have a better team than either of those teams. He has no need for NY media attention or more fame. The guy drives an old car and is an intellectual and is not a Lebron James type of guy.

He does a lot of work in Oakland for the people. He might jump on the Jets bandwagon and hope for a super bowl....otherwise I see him in Oakland, the team that found him, converted him from safety and gave him the tools to continue the Oakland Raider's tradition for CB's that play bump and run.

McFadden has put on some muscle, we have weapons on offense, and we are at the top of the NFL in sacks. We also have Hue Jackson as HC now. #21 might stay and stick it to the rest of you bandwagon clowns.

The true measure of Nnamdi is if he is going to LEAD and LIFT his team to the playoffs.

If he bails we'll replace him with lesser players, but we'll get 3 guys who can play for his salary.

He definitely would.. good fit too w/ his physicality.

===============================
Hines could teach him how to be a cheap shot, while Ben could teach him how to by physical...with underaged co-eds...and area in which Ben excels!

Niner fans even if u get nhamdi it won't make a difference, he can shut down a reciever, teams will still light you up at every other spot! Plus u guys have no offense you got crabtree n Davis but noone to get them the ball. frank gore(if he shows up) has no one to block for hi
So good luck niner fans you don't need to recruit a cornerback you need to recruit an entire team!!
