Bengals, A.J. Green agree to terms

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have their franchise quarterback in training camp, but they will have their first-round draft pick.

Former Georgia receiver A.J. Green has agreed to a contract with the team. Green, the No. 4 overall pick, is the highest-drafted rookie to sign so far.

Green is an outstanding athlete and big-play receiver who’s expected to make an immediate impact for the Bengals.

The questions now are whether Green will ever catch a pass from Carson Palmer, and whether Green will be a teammate of Chad Ochocinco when the season starts.

  1. I love this new cba… When was the last time the bengals signed their first round pick before training camp?

    Jus sayin’

  2. I echo your sentiments, rgwhodey! Thank you new CBA, and thank you AJ Green. With only a few exceptions, signing our first round picks has been a nightmare. This is great news.

  3. Welcome to the Bengals Mr. Green. I cannot wait to watch you showcase your talents in Cincinnati. You seem like a very good person and a very hard worker! You are to be commended and enjoy your time with us and may you be a great locker room influence!!

  4. Anyone want to declare odds as to who will sign Green once his contract in Cincinnati is over? He has to know the circus he’s getting himself into from following the Palmer/Brown war the last few months.

  5. I’m sorry AJ, you seem like a nice person and have the skillset to be a dynamic playmaker at the WR position, but unfortunately you are now a Bengal.

Having followed this trainwreck franchise for my entire life, the best advice I can give you is to work hard, stay out of trouble, don’t take the soul-crushing losses personally, and hope that in 4 or 5 years you get the opportunity to move on to a legitimate franchise

  6. AJ Green becomes the #bengals first first-round pick to report on time since Joseph in ’06. Hall missed one practice in ’07
