It’s all about bodies filling positions. The Browns have wide receivers. They aren’t the best in the league but at least they are bodies filling the position. Running back, on the other hand, was a serious position of need. Hillis is a monster but second on the depth chart is Hardesty. The guy explodes a knee every time he turns around. Next is 2.1 yard per carry free agent Mike Bell. After him comes… Uhh…? No one. The Browns were hardly stacked at RB. Jackson fills a role for the Browns perfectly. His pass catching and blocking abilities make him the third down back that this team needed so badly. If called upon due to injuries, at least he has some starting experience even if that didn’t go so well in GB. Very good signing, perfect fit.

We already have a smash-mouth RB with Mr. Madden himself, we need a quick back who can make a play by himself…(too late to get Reggie Bush) BUT first and foremost: BIGTIME WR or a BIGTIME PASS RUSHER…PLEASE!!!!!!!!

What does the Madden cover mean other than the curse? The reason why I see Hillis not getting the ball like he did last year, is with the Browns running the WCO.

Jackson though, is a great pickup since Vickers is gone and Hardesty hasn’t gained a yard yet in the NFL.

What a crock, oldbrowndawg. Why would you even bring up Vickers in this discussion? Two different positions, and Vickers was on his way out as soon as we drafted Owen Marecic. Brilliance of the average Browns fan shining through again. You make the rest of us look bad.

I appreciate the kind words coming from Packers fans. Gives me a little bit of confidence that Jackson can contribute… I fully expect him to be in a head to head battle for the #3 RB spot with the undrafted rookie we picked up from UTEP. I think the smaller back would be a better compliment to the hard hitting combo of Hillis and Hardesty (kakow for alliteration) but I think Jackson will get his fair shot at making the roster, and secondly will provide a little insurance in case Hardesty doesn’t make it out of the preseason again.

As long as Cleveland doesn’t run the zone blocking scheme, Jackson will be a very nice addition. His vision through the LOS is not the best so giving him a defined hole to run through will only make him a better runner.

Hes not a one cut and get downfield type of guy so thats why he struggled to run the ball consistantly in GB he but hes a good pass blocker and can definitely catch the ball.

Good pickup for Holgren and relatively on the cheap.

Although I hear the other Browns fans calling for help on the defensive side of the ball, I was hoping for a running back of Jackson’s caliber. Goodbye, Mr. Vickers. This guy, unlike you, can catch the ball out of the backfield and can pass protect. McCoy now has a better chance of not getting slammed. Great move!

This sounds like a Holmgren signing, and doesn’t surprise me one bit. Good hands, very good blocker, and doesn’t fumble. He’s not an every-down guy, but how many teams are still using an every-down guy?

Best of luck to Jackson…as others have already said, but I’ll repeat, Packers fans will miss him. Here’s hoping Alex Green can fill in and keep Rodgers standing up straight.

Cleveland…. you will love this guy…. not a huge playmaker but dependable and a good blocker. With Grant returning and Starks on the rise, he just wouldn’t get enough snaps in GB.

Why not the Browns free agent impact player signings always consist of 3rd and 4th. stringers from other teams benches. Woo Hoo Bring in his brother Micheal and Tito and we will have a formidable offense.

Great 3rd down back for the Holmgren system.
Sometimes the QB has to check down.

Jackson can do well on special teams.

Worth every penny.

When Brandon Jackson is in the backfield, the opposing team knows it’s going to be a pass because he is not that good of a runner.

Excellent out of the backfield receiving the ball and of course picking up the blitz.

Jackson is the victim of a crowded backfield in Green Bay. He’s a reliable back who’s a great blocker and can catch the ball out out of the backfield. Good move Cleveland.
