Cardinals to Joey Porter: Take pay cut or get cut

Porter_Joey

After one year in Arizona, Joey Porter could be on the way out.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals want Porter to take a pay cut from the $5.75 million salary. If he doesn’t, the Cardinals would probably cut him.

Realistically, it’s tough to see Porter making $5.75 million anywhere else if he refuses to take the Cardinals’ offer. Porter is 34 years old and had just five sacks last year, tied for the fewest he’s had in any season since his rookie year.

Then again, Porter doesn’t always have the most levelheaded assessment of things. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear him tell the Cardinals to take their offer of a pay cut and shove it. In which case he’d be free to test free agency.

“Porter doesn’t always have the most levelheaded assessment of things.”

That’s the nicest possible way of phrasing the fact that Joey Porter is an ignorant moron.

Poor Joey. Finally learning what every Miami fan knew a year ago. You’re washed up bro. You’ve still got gas but you aren’t the Peezy who won a ring in Pittsburgh. Time to realize that.

If Porter would learn to shut his mouth, he’d only be a 90% duchebag!

Ken Whisenhunt is always trying to pick up washed up Steelers.. wouldn’t be surprised if they go after Randle el.. Ken is terrible at evaluating talent and i am so happy he has nothing to do w/ pittsburgh anymore.. He tried starting Leinart in front of Warner BAHAHAHAHA

Another one of those players that has no class, he would make a perfect jet.

Remember stories like this when people wanna bash players for “not honoring the contract they sighned” the Cards offered and signed his current contract.

Nobody pulls the wool over owner$ eyes better than Porter. This guy hasn’t played a lick since he was shot in the keister (2003)!!

That was contingent on Porter having a bigger impact. Porter is a decent situational player but his mouth/antics are costing him. He was good for the steelers and then the dolphins but he wore out his welcome. It just didn’t take as long in AZ. Crappy production combined with his issues do not make for an NFL roster spot at the pay he was getting

Lloyd, Greene, Gildon, Haggans, Porter – Next up Harrison.

If teams can demand renegotiation then so can underpaid players like Desean Jackson and Chris Johnson.

i’d gladly take porter back in pittsburgh for vet minimum. to have his leadership and heart in that locker room again…wow

Porter cryptically said as he left the office “hope for your horses sake you don’t cut me..”

And players regularly outplay contracts and dont get new deals. Its life. Deal with it.
