Bozo - There are LOTS of people who hate the Patriots - just check some of the posts on just this link. And undoubtedly part of the reason why is that as a team they are thought of as somewhat arrogant. When you have been at their level of excellence for 10 straight years and are looking forward to #11 and more after that, your fans get to be like that - that's part of the FUN of being a Pats fan.

Your remark about the Sox and the Yankees - point taken.
(Then again there are the rangers, the nix, the mets)

Wilfork and Haynesworth on the same line! The Pats are building a brick wall of a defensive front. They'll be almost impossible to rush on from the inside, so teams will try to rush the edges, where the Pats' young team speed will take care of that. But they still need a penetrating edge rusher when the other team passes, they still havn't solved their pass rushing needs. Hopefully they'll get someone before the season starts.

3 cheating, meaningless, tainted superbowl titles*
everyone will always know that and remember.

KILLS me how people cling to this “cheating” BS as if every other team in the league wasn’t doing the exact same thing. Why did so many coaches and NFL personnel come out and say the Pats did ” nothing new ” or “nothing that hasn’t been done by other teams”.
Just because Belicheck was so brazen and arrogant about doing it, doens’t mean he was the only one doing it. You people are so F&%$&ing naive it is almost scary….
Pitiful that you still cling to this as having virutally any merit at all.
They won, and the Rams, Panthers and Eagles lost. Its over & done with, get over you freaking adolescent cry babies!!!!

HAHAHAHAHA, kills you cause it’s a true statement. That’s what all other NFL fans outside n.e. think! Why have they been irrelevant/failures for 6 years? 18-1. killer.

Clearly, I gave you too much credit in my last post describing you and your position with the word " adolescent". "Infantile" was the appropriate adjective based on your childish absurd retort.
You try to be nice and looks where it gets ya!

You have negative Football knowledge. Go watch the WNBA or something thats more suitable to your " speed"

OMG the Pats fans on here are missing chromosomes. Why keep saying he wanted out because of Shanahan. Did you not watch football 2 years ago? Or mabye you did start watching last year if so go watch some tape of him laying on the field...being carted off and coming back 8 plays later. Or after 2 snaps being hunched over sucking air and you people really think he will go to NE and be some great force? And for your great coach what has NE won since they were busted for cheating and Goodell somehow loses the tapes. Yeah its alot easier to win when you know the exact play and the formations the other team is running it from.

To put some perspective on what this cost the Pats, here are the last few 5th rounders:

2011: Marcus Cannon (Pulling for the guy, he's a great story, but we'll see)
2010: Zoltan Mesko (P)
2009: George Bussey (OL--currently in the AFL)
2008: Matt Slater (decent special teams guy, but pretty much only ever going to play special teams)
2007: Clint Oldenburg (OL--not in the league)

Sounds like a coach desperate to save his legacy of “genius” who hasn’t won a superbowl post spygate.

More properly stated; he hasn't won a superbowl since the many good players he inherited when he took over the team got old and are gone (Law, Bruschi, Vinatieri, McGinist, Faulk, Brown etc.)

Crying about the spygate thing is tired and only a few fools even mention it anymore. Yes, it was stupid for BB to continue doing it after the league memo clarified that it was prohibited, but the superbowl wins came long before the memo so there is no substance to the argument that the trophys were affected. It was only the memo which specified such taping was not allowed.

The old dude is grasping for straws, the Pats have not mattered in a bunch of years now except in the minds of all the media wanta be man friends of “the genuis”, lol a bunch.
------

STUPID!!!!!
I love it when morons get on here and say the Pats "are irrelevant " or "have not mattered" because they haven't won an SB in 6 years.

By that dumbass logic the Jets or the colts or the Ravens are also "irrelevant " .

They put a competitive team on the field every year, does that mean they are going to win the SB every year?

No, not at all, but to say that a team that just won it's div and finished with a 14-2 record is" irrelevant or doesn't matter" is just lame!!!

I guess the only relevant team is GB.

And please tell us how it is a desperate move , they gave up a laye 5 th round pick. If he sucks it up in the preseason they cut him and that's all they lose.

Some of you people are just STUPID!!!

The old dude is grasping for straws, the Pats have not mattered in a bunch of years now except in the minds of all the media wanta be man friends of “the genuis”, lol a bunch.
——

STUPID!!!!!
I love it when morons get on here and say the Pats “are irrelevant ” or “have not mattered” because they haven’t won an SB in 6 years.

By that dumbass logic the Jets or the colts or the Ravens are also “irrelevant ” .

They put a competitive team on the field every year, does that mean they are going to win the SB every year?

No, not at all, but to say that a team that just won it’s div and finished with a 14-2 record is” irrelevant or doesn’t matter” is just lame!!!

I guess the only relevant team is GB.

And please tell us how it is a desperate move , they gave up a laye 5 th round pick. If he sucks it up in the preseason they cut him and that’s all they lose.

Some of you people are just STUPID!!!

I am a Pats fan but I just had an acid flashback – what other team was/is known for ‘reclamation projects’? – the Oakland Raiders.

And then Bill Belichik and Al Davis together came into my mind.

To those of you who object to the phrase “Belichik knows what he is doing.”

Hasn’t he proved that over the last 11 years and counting? Would you hate the Patriots as heartily as you do if that were not the case?

News flash: No one "hates" the Patriots.

Just their fan base, the most obnoxious, self-aggrandizing, bogus, hypocritical, whiny fan base on the planet. I guess that nearly a century of Red Sox fan whining about the Yankees dominance had to manifest itself somehow though.

This is ridiculous. It's not the money that makes Haynesworth a risk, it's his attitude and his ability to become a huge distraction. He's the defensive version of TO.

Apparently Belichick is bulletproof. The Patriots could trade for the Prince of Darkness and all we'd hear from the media is how it "makes sense". If this was any other team, you guys would all be blasting them.

66rick:

The Pats got caught stealing defensive signals in the first half of the first game of the 2007 season. They were told to stop - they did.
Would it not follow that the league would keep an extra sharp eye on them for the rest of the season? Of course it would.

Any complaints? None. Since then? None.

The claim that they had been stealing signals for years before then - any proof? None. (And I always found it interesting that the guy who turned them in was an ex-assistant coach under Belichik.)

Stealing the other team's signals has been going on in all sports since before the invention of dirt.

If you suspect that the other team is stealing your signals there is a simple solution:

Change. Your. Signals.

HAHAHAHAHA, kills you cause it's a true statement. That's what all other NFL fans outside n.e. think! Why have they been irrelevant/failures for 6 years? 18-1. killer.

Pats fans, this move might just have been a steal if Haynesworth can play like he has in the past. BUT as a Packer fan who respects the way you have built your team up to this point, it disappoints me that you guys would bring in such a low character guy. I hate when guys with his lazy "I'll-play-when-I-feel-like" attitude succeed. From a talent standpoint, this move makes sense. But from a character perspective this move kind of goes against the grain of what I thought the Pats were all about.

Fink - I've never been a skins fan but they used to be a team that was respected and feared by other teams. Right now they are a joke and - considering their history - that's too bad. I hope Shanahan can make them at least respectable.

I am a Pats fan but I just had an acid flashback - what other team was/is known for 'reclamation projects'? - the Oakland Raiders.

And then Bill Belichik and Al Davis together came into my mind.

To those of you who object to the phrase "Belichik knows what he is doing."

Hasn't he proved that over the last 11 years and counting? Would you hate the Patriots as heartily as you do if that were not the case?
