The. Thing people are missing a bit is that the difference between mcD’s scheme to washburns is night and day. McD required his end to make their reads and rarely just attack. The ends were responsible for gap control (at times two gaps), if a de didn’t read run, react to that maintain his gap and instead just shot upfield he would create huge running lanes and hurt the defense as a whole. In McD”s defense instincts, strength, reaction time and patience was paramount. Wahburn just attacks almost all the time. No read then react. No gap control simply beat your man and make a pllay.

That is why babin wasn’t as effective here before and why he was left go. This move makes complete sense. Babin is relatively cheap. A natural fit in washburns scheme and will let graham heal completely and take over the spot in a year or two

Whoever suggested we were giving up on graham is wrong its actually the opposite. They brought babin in to bridge the gap. For 2011 and 12 graham can rotate in at lde and rde and see 40-50% of the snaps then take over lde when he’s ready

Lmao at people wanting ruud. We would have just kept bradley if that was the case. Ruud was down in 2010 and has the same weaknessses as bradley. Tulloch or geno hayes would be way better. Daryl washington from arz. Would be perfect. I’d much rather go into the season with chany. Casey matthews and greg lloyd at MIKE over Ruud. Maybe sign erin hendersonn for depth. Quincy black. James anderson. Gary guyton are all guys I’d take over ruud.

In reality signing a guy like quincy black to a 4 year 12-15 mil deal and erin henderson for depth at SAM and MiKE would be more than enough to add to chaney fokou clayton matthews rolle and lloyd. Fokou/chaney/black as starters. Clayton as the nickel an casey matthews backup MIKE with henderson backup SwAM. Lloyd and rolle have to earn their spots.

If Washburn could get 12.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl appearance put of Babin in Tennessee, I assume his spend go-around with the Eagles will be much better than the first… Now it’s time to sign Mebane!!

It seemed Babin would get good push in his first stint in Philly. However, was he freelancing and not listening to coaches? He’s bounced off several teams in his career.

This is a signing for Jim Washburn, let’s see if he can control the beast this season. Will Tattoos see the money and become less motivated?

Graham will be out for most of this season, he’s not done by any stretch of the imagination.

Negative much? Did I miss free agency being over? It’s a very good pickup that helps the defense. If the Kolb trade goes down, those two players make a huge difference, as do the coaching changes.

Does anyone else think we need a DT? I just looked at our stats and Patterson had 3 sack and Bunkley had ZERO, Antonio Dixon had 2 sacks, Trevor Laws had 4…they need a sack guy and run stuffer…Cullen Jenkins would be great but the Redskins look like they will get him…I wouldn’t have liked to see A. Haynesworth even, he would play for Washburn. We def need a DT the more i think about it.

Castillo is a student of the game. He is intelligent and knows how to simplify things. He will line up his players andblet them play. Remember Jim Jonson required his ends to play the run first Nd that’s why Kearse wasn’t successful, he was a pass rushing first end. Castillo understands that Trent Cole is a beast he understands babin can rush the passer so he will let them do what they do best. Any comments.

They got ridvof him because McDermott had no clue what he was doing. McDermott was way in over his head. Now we have a legit defense with a legit dline coach who knows how to use his players. Now we need a LB and we are set. The Kolb trade will happen.

I always remember seeing Babin perform when he was on the field. Problem was, Gingerballs wouldn’t leave him on the field. Its no secret that Chris Clemons and Jason Babin went to other teams where they got to play and they performed well above average.

Clemons was in Philly for 2 years. 32 games, 0 starts, 16 tackles, 7 sacks.
He goes to Seattle and in 1 year has 49 tackles, 11 sacks.

Babin in Philly, 12 games, 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks.
Tennessee – 16 games, 58 tackles, 12.5 sacks

So yeah, you tell me where the problem is?

I think it was a great pick up. They didn’t want Edwards because he would want as least $60 million. Remember they still need to sign Vick and Jackson. I think he will have double digit sacks. As for a DT, I like our DT’s. Bunkley is a pass rushing DT. He wasnt used right under Jimmy Johnson or garbage ass mcdermott. You will see a difference.

I hope that 5-year deal is really a 2-year deal, with a bunch of fluff on the back-end.

Babin is a decent player, but he’s 31 and a complimentary player. Not what the Eagles needed.
