Joey Porter takes pay cut, stays with Cardinals

We noted this afternoon that veteran linebacker Joey Porter had been given an offer from the Cardinals: Take a pay cut or get cut.

Porter has chosen the pay cut.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that Porter adjusted his contract and is still a Cardinal. We noted a few times in the offseason that this situation could come up, as Porter’s contract would have been easy to dump.

At age 34, Porter is nowhere near the player he once was, but he still started 14 games for the Cardinals in 2010 and is apparently going to start for the Cardinals again in 2011.

    One step closer to landing Andrew Luck! This season is going to be bleak at Jiffy Pop Stadium.

    For all his faults, I’ll always love Joey. Congrats on re-signing. Hope you have a fabulous year :)

He is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at AgelessC’upid.C óM a nice and free place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends.

    He wasn’t a bad player in limited time. My question is, how will he take it when O’Brien Schoefield starts over him?

    @duanethomas …

    Amen. The moderators are bombarded and just didn’t catch that jerk using PFT to advertising a dating site.
