Getty ImagesPlayers often use Twitter to break their own news. Giants defensive tackle Justin Tuck took that a step further Thursday, breaking the news that Mathias Kiwanuka will be returning to the Giants.
Take that, OCNN.
“Kiwi is returning to the big blue. Yes sir,” Tuck wrote.
We will be curious to see the contract. Coming off a serious neck injury, Kiwanuka may have taken a one-year deal to boost his value for another run in free agency next year. He’s as talented as any pass rusher that was on the market.
UPDATE: Tom Rock of Newsday says it’s a two-year deal. Great move for the Giants.

solid resigning by JR
huge resigning for the giants. by far the best player on the defense last year before he was injured.
this guy was made to play for perry fewell schemes on D
Kiwanuka better stay healthy.
Has to be a 1-year deal, same as Smith. He deserves a huge contract so long as he’s healthy. I’m glad he’s coming back.
this kid is worth the $$$
he is also versatile as an OLB/DE
love it and i cant wait for 3rd and longs when we put 4 DE’s on the line and go after the qb
. . . hint to Osi
Giants agreed to terms with DE/OLB Mathias Kiwanuka on a multi-year contract.
There goes Osi Umenyiora’s holdout leverage. Kiwi is a high-risk investment because of his neck injuries, but his versatility and pass-rushing ability also made him one of the most intriguing defenders on the market. The Giants may now be open to offers for Umenyiora, though Kiwanuck also figures to see plenty of time at outside linebacker with the position in flux.
Maybe the Giants will be as good as they were last year after all.
Although I don’t want this to happen, I have to assume Osi’s on the way out now. If he is, then please, pleeeeease keep him out of the NFC, JR.
And get a 1st rounder and more for him, too.
Nice! Now in some passing situations we’ll get to see the NASCAR package with Tuck, JPP, Kiwi, and Osi (if they keep him).
Great! Now go get a 1st rounder for Osi!
Maybe “Kiwi” will catch Djax …….
This dude is about as worthless as they come, he did nothing with us other than warming up the bench.
Who doesn’t love Mathias? DT, DE, Will Backer, whatever you need coach, I got you!
