Patriots sign two draft picks, 12 undrafted rookies

The Patriots might not have totally finished the Albert Haynesworth trade, but they do have several other new faces to integrate into the team.

Two of the team’s 2011 draft picks have agreed to contracts. Tight end Lee Smith, a fifth-round pick from Marshall, and linebacker Markell Carter, a sixth rounder out of Central Arkansas, are the first Patriots draftees to sign their names to four-year contracts. In addition, running back Stevan Ridley, a third-round pick from LSU, announced on Twitter that he’s reached agreement on a contract. The team has yet to make any announcement.

The Pats also reinstated two players from the reserve military list. Fullback Eric Kettani and wide receiver Tyree Barnes were both signed as undrafted free agents out of Navy in 2009 and were placed on the list on July 23 of that year. They finished their commitment to the service in May of this year and will now get a chance to continue their football careers.

Finally, the Patriots announced the signing of 12 undrafted rookie free agents. They are OL Mike Berry, LB/LS Ryan Coulson, OL Kyle Hix, K Chris Koepplin, DE Aaron Lavarias, LB Anthony Leonard, DE Clay Nurse, WR Jeremy Ross, DE Alex Silvestro, LB Jeff Tarpinian, OL Corey Woods and TE Will Yeatman.
