Hahaha tell me this time last year you would have said Josh Freeman the and Bucs would be a decent team in the nfc? and would be contending for a playoff spot on the last day of the regular season. Tell me someone who said the chiefs would win their division and host a playoff game? Come on man the nfl is all about parody. I think we CAN be competitive this season if we can stay somewhat healthy. That can be said with about any team in the league. Like many users has/have been saying since FA started, Our own FA’s are resigning with us because they all know we are a good team and last year was an anomaly. I am not saying we will win the superbowl or anything, but we WILL be competitive. Newton and the panthers are looking to really prove the media/PFT wrong.

By all accounts, Steve and Cam have already developed a great relationship. Steve’s problem with Clausen last year was Clausen’s timid approach to everything. Clausen was not a leader. Cam Newton already has the respect of Smitty.

You’re exactly right and it helps prove my point. Carolina has drafted 4 Wrs in the last two years and picked up Clowney. Why are you drafting all these WRs if they never get a chance to play over Smith? Put them in the lineup. Let Newton lead and grow with these young guys. And send Smith to SD or NE so he has a chance to win in the twilight of his career. Everyone wins.

It’s hard to see Jenkins go, he’s a great player and a good guy but losing him was pretty much expected.
Even Cullen said in an interview after the SB that he didn’t know where he’d be next year. I hope he gets big bucks and I wish him well. Redskins got a good player.

There is no way Carolina competes in that division with Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Josh Freeman until Newton has a few years under his belt. Talk about the LBs and RBs all you want. Any football fan knows it starts with the QB. Just look at the Panthers. As soon as Delhomme started sucking, so did the team.

When was the last time you saw Steve Smith not look disgruntled and/or angry and stomping around on the sideline huffing and puffing. It’s like his trademark look. I understand the guy is competitive, but you have to draw the line somewhere. It’s insulting to the QB when he acts like that. The first time Newton overthrows him or misses him wide open he is going to tear him a new A-Hole. Like offsideburns said, start the ticking time bomb clock now.

Every one of the Panthers free agents and Steve Smith wanted to return to Carolina if those two were addressed. This team knows they can be good.

how do you know carolina wont be competitive for 3 years? How do you know steve smith is going to hurt Cam Newtons development and insult in the huddle? I do not understand how you can compare 89 to T.O. anyways. Newton basically begged steve to come back. Yesterday Jon Beason said on wfnz in charlotte that the team needs smith because of his leadership/locker room leader. Panthers have a top 5 LB core, Top 5 o-line, Number 1 running game. Look for the panthers to surprise a lot of people this season. Oh yeah the guy in the username might be rocking some black n blue this season
