Snelling emerging as candidate to back up Steven Jackson

It wasn’t so long ago we heard the Rams might go for a big name option for their backup running back spot, like Reggie Bush or Darren Sproles.

Instead, it appears they may go for a player a little more under the radar.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Jason Snelling and to a lesser extent Jerome Harrison have emerged as options to fill the third-down back role behind Steven Jackson.

Rams G.M. Billy Devaney said on PFT Live in April the Rams have done a poor job getting backups for Jackson, and we’re not sure Harrison would really improve things.  Snelling would be an excellent option; he can do a little bit of everything.

This post got us thinking: We haven’t heard anything about Sproles in free agency yet.  He’s either not a priority for any team out there or perhaps he’s pricing himself too high after getting big money as a franchise player.

  1. of course when you are delusional and for two years running AJ Smith overpaid for essentially a punt returner, there u have it.

  2. Nooooo!!! Man we are going to miss Snelling more than we think here in Atlanta. He’ll fit perfectly in St. Louis though. Congrats if this deal goes through–b/c he’ll spell S-Jax and you won’t miss a beat!

He is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at agelessc’upid.C óM a nice and free place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.

  4. This would be a good pickup. Snelling is big-can be a good 3rd and short back and can catch passes out of the backfield. Looks like we arent going after a reciever so all we need is an OLB and RG
