Titans officially part ways with Vince Young

20101023_inq_eagl23z-a

The Titans had a couple of day to trade Vince Young and a $4.25 million roster bonus that would have come due on Friday. They couldn’t trade him, so they’ve cut him.

As expected, the Titans have released Young, the third pick in the 2006 draft.

The Titans also have released defensive tackle Tony Brown, defensive lineman Kareem Brown, defensive end Marcus Howard, running back Dominique Lindsay, and guard Jeff Hansen.

The market is expected to be soft for Young. But here’s how we (or at least I) see it. There aren’t 32 quarterbacks in the league right now better than Young. So he should be starting somewhere.

Look at Seattle. The Seahawks have Charlie Whitehurst and Tarvaris Jackson. Vince Young is better, more accomplished, and more experienced than them?

And if any NFL coach knows what Vince Young can do, it’s the guy whose hair got a little bit grayer while standing on the sidelines of the 2005 BCS national title game.
