Bills, Marcell Dareus agree to four-year $20.4 million deal

Marcell Dareus, Ralph Wilson Jr. AP

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft has signed his contract.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the Buffalo Bills signed defensive tackle Marcell Dareus to a fully guaranteed four-year, $20.4 million contract.

With a guaranteed $20 million-plus, Dareus probably won’t have to mow lawns anymore.

Most of the Top 10 picks in this year’s draft have now signed, and the ones who haven’t are expected to sign soon. The new Collective Bargaining Agreement may have just about eliminated issues with rookies missing training camp.

Agreed. Plus, it’s nice to see contracts that actually reflect what the players will be paid, as opposed to these deals where numbers were artificially inflated to prop up player and agent egos.

Thrilled about this…..the guy can make immediate improvements for the Bills D which needs lots of help. He basically got the same deal that Von Miller got for the 2nd overall pick (20.6 million I think). I’m not too concerned, I think he’s worth it…..hope he stays healthy.

I am curious to know what they paid Michael Jasper…..the huge guy that was passed by every other team for his weight……at buffalobills.com they have a 3 minute video on the guy when he signed his contract…..he doesn’t look fat at all….just jacked at 375 lbs.

Congrats to Marcell and the Bills!! Buffalo is one of a short list of teams that’s better than their 2010 record indicates, and I’m excited to see what they do this season. It will be tough because they’re in a competitive division, but Chan is a smart coach, and Dareus is a strong addition. It would be nice if they could re-surge while Mr. Wilson is still around. Good luck!!

Poor Guy. No one deserves having to go to Buffalo.

Ralph is the most consistent owner in the league, 50 years running (now running slower).

    Now that’s a scary photo.

Now Ralph has someone to make sure he gets across the street O.K.

Why do people think it’s comical to make fun of a 91 year old man? The man has done so much for us and you’re going to make comments like that, classless. Show some respect not just to him but to the men and women of “the greatest generation” that made this country what it is today.

On another note, great deal for the bills. I love the new rookie wage scale, strange the contract is fully guaranteed. I wondr if that’s a sign of the direction the league is moving, similar to the NHL.
