Three seasons into his NFL career, it looks like Michael Crabtree won’t have a real training camp under his belt.

He was a holdout as a rookie. He had a mysterious injury last year.

This time around, a foot injury is expected to keep him out the next 4-6 weeks, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. This is a significant blow to a team that expects Frank Gore to hold out and has poor depth at wideout.

Heck, one of the top items on our team checklist this summer was to keep Crabtree on the field for once. That won’t happen once again, apparently because of a foot injury suffered at the team’s player-only workouts.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that the 49ers have entered the mix for wide receiver Malcom Floyd. (The Cardinals and Vikings are also rumored to be talking to him.) Getting another capable pair of hands sounds like a great idea.
