Thanks for clearing that Trent thing up, quizguy. So at least they have him on the roster to compete for a spot. Sounds like Zimmer knows the score though; Bengals still need to sign a free-agent CB for a year, then draft a stud with the top-5 1st rounder they'll likely have next year (and I say that as a Bengal fan... just being realistic here).

As for JJ, yeah he's good but you Texan fans are going to learn some new vocab when watching him... "passes defensed", and "Why didn't he catch that?!"

It's really no wonder Carson Palmer would rather retire than play for this laughing stock. It's a shame, he could have been a damn good QB.

If I'm Andrew Luck, I'm already preparing to pull an Eli Manning. Nobody would blame him. If Mike Brown seriously refuses to trade his rights, I'd go play in Canada.

Yeah, it's that bad.

The Bengals will spend as little as they can these next two years as the minimum salary cap requirement doesn't kick in until 2013. Brown needs to line his pockets while he can.

As for hoping to draft Luck, that's a stupid Bengals fan for ya'. You just supposedly got your QB of the future and used a two on him. Now you are hoping to burn a one on another QB just so you can end up cutting one (you can't keep both and have a carousel at QB).

A smart team would have dished Ochou Stink long ago. They would be dumping Palmer now. Worried about leverage with players? Win more often. It keeps more of them in the fold than not. But if you don't win and keep cheeping out on facilitates, players will obviously go to where they can optimize their careers.

Your biggest moments in the next few years will be those rare wins against key "rivals". As rare as they will be I am sure Bengay fans will crow like little girls, because it will be all they have to crow about. The rest of us will be enjoying repeated playoff berths and potential runs at Super Bowls.

The Bengals aren't winning any Super Bowls any time soon, but the comments here are just a bit offbase. This team is only one season removed from AFCN Champs. Chad was stinking up the place already and JJ was hurt all the time. Carson quitting is a hit but they have a couple of guys they like for his long term replacement. Quality corps of young WR/TEs.
Baltimore rarely beats them, same w Cleveland.
This team will be right around 500 regardless of the JJ mishap. Get a clue.

I hope Andrew Luck is happy with his decision to stay one more year. Because at least the Panthers are putting pieces around Newton to give him the chance to succeed. He'll likely end up in the purgatory of the NFL, Cincinnati or Buffalo.

What kind of organization doesn't have their assistants in the loop when they decide not to keep high end personnel???
YE GODS.
I do feel for Bengals fans a bunch. Kind of like Bills fans. They seem to be mostly good people and it's hard not to admire/respect their loyalty.

@ realitypolice...I've been curious to know which team is your favorite. You've never once that I know of given it away, you sly devil you.

Not a Nebgals fan either, but I feel sorry for them. This owner is worse than Ken Behring when he bought the Seahawks to just move them to LA. He did everything possible to make the team worse. Some of the worst years in our short history.

I hope Cincy does get the #1 pick and trades it to Seattle, with the players we have been adding he would fit in nicely here. I again would feel sorry for the Fans, but like andyreidisfat said, you will get a new Owner and it will be better. Behring finally left after the tax incentives ran out, plus he could not walk through the Streets in Seattle without fear of being shot.

I said it before FA started. If I were Joseph, I couldn’t sign with a new team fast enough. The organization is considered the worst pro sports franchise in America. The owner can’t even be bothered to build an indoor facility so the team has a decent place to practice in bad weather. A rookie and Brad Gradkowski will be battling for the start at QB. They’re trying to resign a RB who is facing charges. They let their best pass rusher walk out the door. It’s hard to believe, even with a franchise like the Bengals. They went into FA with one of the biggest amounts of cap space, and they’ve actually gotten worse during FA so far. It goes to show you, if your organization is anything but organized, then unless you dramatically overpay players, FAs will avoid you if possible and your players will sign elsewhere if they have the option. This is one of the main problems I had with Mike Brown’s decision and comments concerning Carson Palmer. While others spoke approvingly of his tough stance and the message he sent to the league that he was running things, I saw a guy who publicly demonstrated to players his willingness to mess with their careers. Say what you want about the players, but they’re smart enough to know that it’s better to avoid putting your careers in the hands of a man like Mike Brown. I feel sorry for Zimmerman. He busted his butt to put together a really good defense, only to watch his FO let it slip away.
=============

1. Who is Zimmerman?
2. Who is Brad Gradkowski?
3. Who was our best pass rusher that we let walk? Odom? L O L

Just giving you a hard time. Being a Bengals fan is the hardest thing to be. Check the message boards, you will see how any glimmer of hope or good news gets some people waaaaay too excited. Mike Brown has trained the fanbase to jump for joy when the smallest thing happens.. Meanwhile, he's pocketing $49 million.
