Packers say so long to Mark Tauscher

Packers' Tauscher holds the Vince Lombardi Trophy and his son Maxwell after the Packers defeated the Steelers in the NFL's Super Bowl XLV football game in Arlington AP

The Packers made a few unexpected roster cuts this week.  This one comes as no surprise.

Green Bay cut tackle Mark Tauscher, as first reported by Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com.

There just wasn’t a big role for Tauscher available with youngsters Bryan Bulaga and Derrek Sherrod in place.  It would be a small surprise if Tauscher didn’t retire after 11 year.

He was a great Packer – did everything that was asked of him, and more.

I’m so glad he was able to get a ring, and I hope he’s able to stay with the organization in some capacity.

Loved the guy but it was time. He had trouble staying healthy. Loved all he gave to the Badgers and Packers.

Yeah, Tauscher is awesome. Class guy all the way around. My money says he eventually ends up as an o-line coach, in some capacity.

a big thanks to mark tauscher for all his years at UW Madison and in Green Bay. A truly great player, and a greater person. Glad you could get a ring Mark, you deserve it!

I hope he is still able to play somewhere outside the NFC North.

I sure wish there hadn’t been a holding call on the TD catch he made. He did get his Lambeau Leap.

He made a lot of friends over the years.

    The Packer youth movement continues.

Hopefully Tausch will return to the Pack as a coach of some sort …… A true Wisconsinite who deserves all the accolades possible for being a great player & an outstanding citizen …..

Set up the ceremony for his induction into the Packer HOF …… Sometime down the road it will happen …….

He’d be a shoe-in!! A fat, bearded bumbling slob who was always piss poor at his job. All he needs is a PBR in his hand!

Wow…. our line(which wasn’t very good last year) has taken a HUGE hit with our depth….

Lang and McDonald need to Compete for that spot, Ted has done a masterful Job of redoing the O line. Let’s hope Clifton has 1 More good year.

Thanks Mark, you were one heckuva 7th rounder, see you in the Packer hall of fame

  23. mkepackfan says: Jul 30, 2011 12:12 PM

Equal if not better of a value 7th round pick than DD.

Like that’s a hard place to get into. I think you just have to have all your own teeth…..oops Nitscke is in.

Maybe you just don’t have to commit a crime….wait Chumura had sex with a 17 year old.

Tauscher was a serviceable lineman, nothing more, nothing less.

Do they just put a guy in this “HOF” for being mediocre for a long time?

    Uff.

Great guy, great player. As several have said, very deserving of the Super Bowl ring. Will always remember him stonewalling Strahan all game long in NY when he was desperately trying to get the sack record, only to have Favre give it to him. Tausch’s comment was typical, understated Wisconsin – “It was a little early for Christmas.” He’ll be back if the Pack needs him. Thank you Mark.
