Titans want to negotiate with Chris Johnson, but only in person

The Titans and Chris Johnson have a problem.

Johnson won’t show up for work until he gets a new contract, and the Titans apparently won’t give him a new contract until he shows up for work.

Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt said Friday the team is willing to talk contract with Johnson, but he needs to be in camp for it to happen.

“It’s the right way to do it,” Reinfeldt said via Paul Kuharksy of ESPN.com’s AFC South blog.

Coach Mike Munchak did speak to Johnson to tell him how important he was to the team by phone on Thursday.

We’ll have to see who blinks first in this stare down. Ultimately, we’d be very surprised if Johnson doesn’t have a new contract before the season starts.

He’ll hold out. He’ll get a massive contract. He’ll buy more gold teeth.

I think he knows otherwise he wouldn’t be holding out.

If a player is all that he’ll show up for camp, wow everyone, and THEN hold out.

8-8 with Johnson, 6-10 without, not sure that is worth 30M

Assuming he has an agent, he doesn’t need to be there. Quit posturing and pay him what you know you’re going to eventually.

I’ve got 2 words for ya… “pay the man”.

Preface: he has earned his money that is due. Now, when he signed his initial he could have tried to get more but he didn’t. So he signed anyway, now play out your contract. What’s the point in contracts if you aren’t going to follow it. I’m a titans fan so we need him, he is the offense. But honestly, I hope he holds out till the 28th of august and doesn’t get credit for the year and then let’s see how he does with no money!
