Twitter trade rumors prompt Dockett to clear the air with coach

Recently, Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett live-tweeted a traffic stop that resulted in police trying to get him to consent to a search of the car.

On Thursday, Dockett provided a glimpse into his reaction to rumors that he’s being traded to the Ravens.

He mentioned the rumors on Twitter and re-tweeted messages passing along the chatter of a trade.  Eventually, Dockett said, “I’m not tweeting no more I’m pissed!  Me to the Ravens no no no!  Ttyl I’m calling my coach!”

Not long after that, Dockett was back, with a resolution.

“Whoop whoop my coach says no way I leave AZ and he even said NINO can come to training camp we getting bunk beds! This the best day EVER!”
It could be that Dockett is having some fun with us.  Why would the Ravens, with Haloti Ngata and Terrence Cody, trade for Dockett?  Why would the Cardinals, who signed Dockett to a long-term extension last year and have seen several key pieces of the defense leave since March 2010, even consider moving him?
With Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt appearing on today’s PFT Live, we’ll find out soon whether Dockett actually placed that call.
Still, it’s another example of how Twitter provides unprecedented access to the thought processes of NFL players, in real time.

  1. Wow, all you have to do is to get the word “police” mentioned in the same sentence as your name and suddenly the Ravens enter the picture…

  2. I would say…maybe an edit is needed in the final sentence of your story:

“…access to the lack of a thought process of NFL players, in real time.”

  3. Don’t worry Dockett, if you don’t want to come here…we certainly don’t need you. Best of luck trying to be even half the player Ngata is. See you week 8 chump.

  4. “Why would the Ravens, with Haloti Ngata and Terrence Cody, trade for Dockett?”

Maybe because Cody is terrible? I like how you lumped Ngata and Cody together like they where somewhat comparable.

  5. Apparently Dockett was looking at houses in Maryland (he is a MD native) and people took this as a sign he was getting traded. Rumors started flying in Ravens forums and someone asked Dockett on his Twitter page if the rumors were true. That prompted his reaction.

  6. he acts like i look at his twitter for his words. you silly goose. stfu and post more nude shower pics.

  7. Dockett said, “I’m not tweeting no more I’m pissed! Me to the Ravens no no no!

So let me get this str8….Dockett thinks coming to the Ravens is a bad thing?…..AZ just sold the team to Kold!..u guys can’t make the playoffs in the worst division in the NFL, Seattle won the division with a 7-9 record, LOL. BTW the Ravens don’t want u!

  8. Darnell Dockett should first sign up for a course in Remedial Reading and English Grammar.

Lucky us… It’s amazing that the owners didn’t end up with 90 percent of the revenue against geniuses.

  10. In addition to the current how to manage your finances courses, the NFL needs to put in a required three month seminar for players on how to stay away from Twitter, especially when driving an automobile.

  11. Sounds like this rumor came about because the Ravens are supposedly looking to trade for a pass rush defensive end and Dockett was recently looking at new houses in the Baltimore area recently. He already lives in the Baltimore/Washington area in the off season, so just a misunderstanding.

  12. NINO-Nino was a New Jack City character played by Wesley Snipes. He was a criminal who testified against someone in his gang and then got killed.

  13. Everyone is to sensitive. He followed up his tweet saying it was nothing against the ravens just that he wants to be a cardinal. Nothing wrong with loyalty. And minor is his pet crocodile.
