I’ve been a Vikings fan for nearly 40 years, but I can honestly say that if the Seahawks played the Vikings this year, I will be rooting for the Seahawks. Extremely disappointed with the fans and media in Minnesota for how they treated T-Jack. I’m a huge T-Jack fan and now obviously a huge Seahawks fan. T-Jack will be an All Pro this year because of your existing running game and now the addition of Bevell and Rice. As a result, the Seahawks will not only repeat as division champs, but will also have one of the best records in the NFC. Yes, the Seahawks will play in either the NFC Championship game or the Superbowl this year.

Go T-Jack! Go Rice! Go Bevell! Go Seahawks!

I am not sure why this is so hard to understand for so many, even Hawks fans.

Seattle offered Matt a 2 year $7mill a year contract, he declined. Seattle said that was all they were going to offer, time to move on. He got a 3 year $7mill a year contract with the Titans, good for him. He will hopefully sign a 1 day contact and retire a Hawk and go into the ROH.

Seattle is in a rebuilding mode, they have a couple of fairly cheap QB's that will fight for the starting job. Neither is a long term answer to the QB position. After Locker was taken they went to plan B, the OL. It will take half the year for this team to gel, they have never played together. you can't put an aging fragile QB behind that anyway. These guys may not be the best QB's out there, but they are low risk some reward guys. They can take the lumps behind the line as it learns. Seattle will draft a QBOTF next year, and it will only be Luck if we trade with Cicny for him.

As far as the WR going to die in Seattle, you list 3. Douchemanmomma was never a one and we tried to make him a one. he failed with the Ravens, and dropped a pass in the playoffs that would have helped them win the game. Branch is a WR that is in the NE system, he would be an OK WR on most other teams, he was also injury prone here. Bureleson did OK here, but we overpaid to get back for the poison pill for Hutch. It was a dumb move. There is also another thing these three have in common, the idiot Ruskell signed them. If Rice is injury prone we overpaid for him, if he can stay healthy we got a steal. Every WR will suffer this year and part of next, but they should be really good when the QBOTF learns the game.

Seattle has made some moves to improve the team long term. They will have a great OL when these guys gel. The D will be improved if they can stay healthy. Seattle has been bitten by the injury bug, and had no depth to back it up. This is just a step in the process of rebuilding, you can't do it in one or two seasons, of you are doing it long term.

Dear Paul,

Are you aware that ofensive coordinators are not in fact the position coaches for quarterbacks? And yes, I’ve seen Jackson play and I’ve seen all the qbs drafted this year play in college. Jackson has a strong arm, great speed and good size. Other than Newton, none of the guys drafted (other than Newton) have his combination of natural abilities. As posters on this story have pointed out, he never appeared to play instictively within the vikings offense, which could be fixed with proper coaching. And yes, he did have Adrian Peterson to hand off to and have consistently fumble to kill drives his time as a starter. I was hoping the packers would get him as a third qb but it didn’t happen. I think he could be a solid starter that gets the hawks 9 or 10 wins. Apparently some highly paid coaches and professional personel people agree with me. The vikings won the division with him twice. He’s no worse than McNabb at this point in his career.

=====================================
Dear dummy:

Yes, I am aware that OC are not postions coaches.
If you've seen Jackson play and all these college QBS play, then you are sadly misinformed on your opinion.
I just love the jealousy from Packer fans." Paterson sucks, he fumbles" You'd kill to have that stud on your team and you know it.

Apparently, some caoches and personel people are just as dumb as you.

Oh, by thew way, the 2 seasons he started.....
2007 12 starts team record 8-8
2008 5 starts team record 10-6...Frerotte did all the work and Childress was an idiot and started TJack- check his stats in the playoff game vs. Philly-truly horrific.

I'd stop now-you look moreignorant with every post.

T-Jack will not be the reason Seattle fails this season. Montana in his prime would have problems with the O-line and the lack of a consistant running game. Realize you are rebuilding. Seattle's time is "up". SF and STL will battle for the West in the next three years. You have had a great run, but you managed the QB and O-line situation poorly. Did STL and SF teach you nothing? Seattle still has the best home field. Just be patient and get a different head coach.
The real story is that TJack is the starter for the Game 1 of the preseason. Carroll thinks Jackson is the most prepared to run Bevel's offense ( his former OC withthe Vikings) with the very short lockout preparation. But he has NOT been declared the season starter. From Carroll:

“In this situation, I think to make it the most competitive for our team, Tarvaris needs to be our starter right now,” Carroll said, speaking with reporters at the VMAC for the first time since the end of the lockout. “He comes in as our starter, he’s going to own that position until Charlie and the next couple fellas that are playing at the spot get a chance to catch up, and then the competition will begin from their end.”

It's not like this team was a QB away from making a SB run this season. How many transactions did they make last season, 260+ or so? It's obvious they're in a rebuilding mode and wanted to rebuild their O-line first (can't win anything if you're losing in the trenches, and obviously they didn't think of this year's draft-able QB's were franchise types), and it's not like they're tied to T-Jack and Whitehurst forever. Depending on how badly they struggle this year, they have a great shot at drafting 3 PAC-10 QB's, who they probably think higher of than this year's crop (Luck, Barkley, Foles). If the regime has a plan, stick with it. If the plan epically fails, then go nuts I would think?

Well it looks like someone is finally going to give T Jack a chance.

In all seriousness, Tavaris is a better QB than a lot of people think. Staying healthy is key for him but at this point most people that think he sucks are basing that opinion on a playoff loss to the Eagles and stuff he did as a rookie and first year player.

I'm not saying he's good. He is a sub average starter and not a guy you want to go all in with. But he's decent and probably a lot better than Whitehurst.

This year, Seattle's offensive line will consist of:

A second-year left tackle (Okung).
A veteran left guard (Gallery).
A center with one year of playing experience (Unger, missed last year with a foot injury).
A rookie right guard (Moffitt).
A rookie right tackle (Carpenter).

Now, there's a lot of potential...a LOT of potential. And with Tom Cable coaching them, barring injuries, this could be one of the better lines in the league...in a few years, after they've had some time to work together. For right now, they're untested, unproven, and definitely a work in progress.

Now, who do you want to line up at QB behind that line in their first season playing together?

An aging veteran, who has missed time due to injury in each of the last three seasons?

A rookie, trying to build that most precious of attributes, confidence?

A $60+ million free agent acquisition, with a very short resume, that cost your team a talented young player and a high draft pick to acquire?

Or maybe a couple of veterans, on the roster at a relative bargain price, who have never really stood out, who have something to prove, and who are looking to earn their way into a full-time starting job? So much the better if they are at an age where they still have some mobility, because they may find themselves running for their lives at times while the young line learns the intricacies of pass-blocking.

Neither Jacskson nor Whitehurst has any job security. Whitehurst is in the final year of his contract, and Jackson has two years on his. If they blow it this year, they'll either be out of town or watching the team draft or acquire a young QB in the 2012 offseason. This wasn't an "all-in" move, as was Whisenhunt's acquisition of Kolb, this was a "check" to see what develops.

If either Whitehurst or Jackson can step up and do something notable, more power to them. If they can't, the QB Seattle brings in sometime in 2012 will at least have the benefit of having a line in front of him that's played together for a while.

By the way, for those saying Seattle "dumped" Hasselbeck, they offered two years at $7 mil a year before the lockout, and he rejected it. He turns 36 in September.

Haha, Seahawks getting sloppy seconds from the Vikings again and overpaying. They must be still bitter about Hutchinson. Good luck with Sidney Rice, my grandma is almost 60% recovered after her hip surgery, and that was 5 years ago! Hopefully he'll be better for you than Nate Burleson and the $49 million you gave him a few years back.

Fear not though, TJack has been working on his jump pass, so get ready for a frustrating season filled with fumbles, poor reads and plenty of pick 6es!

Hassleback had 2 good games last year and one was in the playoffs that most people saw. What you missed the remainder of the season is him getting injured walking into the end zone without a player for at least 6 feet around him. You have missed the 4 and short calls where the goal is to make the defense jump, while if they don't you waste a time out, because you had no play going in. Hassleback was great for Seattle, but they are not competing this year. Without getting a quaterback of the future, they didn't need hassleback. I have seen the footage of the T-Jack shovel pass, and I think hassleback is just as 'good' in that regard. The weak o line for 3 years have taken their toll on the guy.

Great grab for titans, Jake locker has worked out with hassleback at the UW. There is no better on the job teacher for a young qb I can think of in the league right now. I can't wait to see locker in 2 years of learning from matt. Seattle simply doesn't have that. If we got a qb this draft and let matt go, I'd be pissed. As is, I see the logic and can at least hope that it was Childress fault....

Dear Paul,

Are you aware that ofensive coordinators are not in fact the position coaches for quarterbacks? And yes, I've seen Jackson play and I've seen all the qbs drafted this year play in college. I was hoping the packers would get him as a third qb but it didn't happen. I think he could be a solid starter that gets the hawks 9 or 10 wins. Apparently some highly paid coaches and professional personel people agree with me. The vikings won the division with him twice. He's no worse than McNabb at this point in his career.

I'm a Vikings fan too and one who is upset at our ridiculous front office for ever letting Tarvaris go. I see some stooges on here spouting off about Tarvaris' inacuracies, but they're living in 2007. His QB rating improved every year, his mechanics improved and his mentality to throw the ball out of bounds instead of taking a sack or a pick made tremendous progress, particulary when he closed out the 2008 season, which was his last significant playing time (pre Favre). I'm sure Carroll went with decision due mainly to Tarvaris' familiarity with Bevell's offense and the fact that the CBA allowed little time for absorbing this information. Don't hang your heads Seahawk fans, you're well on your way to winning the division again.

Jackson has great talent but it’s clear he didn’t get good coaching before. He’s got better physical tools than all of the qbs drafted this year except Newton, and if the Hawks put him in a situation where he doesn’t have to win games by himself, he could be the steal of the off season.

===============================
How dumb is this post?

1- He has the same OC he had in Minnesota.
2- You have no clue what tpe of tools any of the rookies have at the NFL level.
3- He had All Day in his backfield in Minnesota. He couldn't get it done with him.
4.You are a Packer fan "forever"
