Hey, get me a list of teams that are winning lots of playoff games when their D is giving up 20+ points a game. That should be easy. It will be a very short list.

Brady’s TD rate in the playoffs translates to 25 TDs in a season. (30 in 19 playoff games).

Not too shabby against the best teams in the league.

Oh, and that’s one TD better than Manning in the same number of playoff games (19), many of which were played outdoors in crappy weather, not in a dome.

And let’s not even mention Brady’s 7-1 TD/INT ratio in the superbowl compared to Manning’s 2-2 ratio.

Hey! How bout an update at the bottom of the article that points out his 2011 cap hit is only $16 million. Yes, 7 million less than what it would have been with the franchise tag. That $7 mil goes a long way to retaining key players like he wanted.

I bet Peyton Mannings future great great great grand kids love the idea of him declining to take an extra 10 million dollars from a billionaires great grand kids. I always think about that when a athlete takes less money. Yea they dont need that money but what about their lineage? That money isnt going to last forever and that extra 10 million could have kept a few more generations going strong. Thats why I really dont begrudge Jayson Werth for deciding taking the money was more important to him then another ring.

Anyway, did we just witness Peyton Manning sign the last contract of his already Hall of Fame career?

Get a clue. That 11-5 Pats team played a puss schedule. They had 3 wins against teams that ended up with a winning record (and 4 loses).

I don’t understand why the fans have such strong opinions over what these guys get paid. Why does it matter? Every negotiation is at a different time and place with different players, ages and abilities. Everyone sees these players as different value. As fans, it has absolutely nothing to do with us.

you colts fans dont get it, HE DIDNT take less. He will get paid 23 mil a year for the fist 3 years of that contract, that is 5 mill a year more than Brady. The last two years are at 10.5 each, no way he plays those years under that deal.

And the guy who brought up Cassell in regards to Brady being replacable is an idiot. Brady went 16-0 with the same team Cassel went 11-5 with. If Peytons team lost 5 more games without him they would be 4-12. Cassell was no where near what Brady was in that season. Go look at Cassells stats for the Patriots, then compare them to Bradys the year before with the SAME EXACT team.

Geez, this guy can never win with some people. He DID take less. His owner actually said “I want to make him the highest paid player in NFL history” and Peyton was like, “no thanks, just give me what Brady gets”. I know it’s hard to think of $90 million as “less”, but it is. Again: THE GUY’S OWNER OFFERED MORE AND HE SAID NO THANKS.

All he does is start every game and remain among the top two or three QBs every year, and he’s still getting grief.

He’s making 23 million a year the first three years and then 10.5 million the last two years. How many rings does he have, how in the world can you say he’s worth top $$$ in the league. Ranked 10th last year overall with 17 int’s and a 92 rating. Hardly worth the money.

Other than that blame the ones who were willing to offer him the contract.

For all the idiots thinking he should have taken less. HE DID! He is making what Brady is making in NE, and probably less than what Rogers will make when he makes his new deal soon. Anytime a team says they want to pay a player over 20 million per year (actual numbers were closer to 23 million), how many players do you think would turn that down? Probably 2 (Manning and Brady), and that’s why the Pat’s and Colts are always at or near the top of the heap, because its a team game and the two guys who make the most money, are also the two guys who restructure their contracts to make it easier for their teams to be competitive.

P.S. For the people complaining about his age and how much he makes. I would take a 35 year old, 4 time MVP, 1 time Superbowl MVP, over some chump who makes nearly that much playing for the Steelers. Hell that dude’s own team mates know he wins superbowls because that defense is the most consistent and reliable defense in the league.

It’s the same per year average that Brady got. When was the last time he won a super bowl?
