Are you Kidding me.. The Packers made a trade for Favre in the offseason before the 92 season.. A second year QB that Ron Wolfe intended to DRAFT in the previous years draft when teh Falcons snagged him one pick ahead of them. They didnt win the SuperBowl until 3 years later.. Desmond Howard was HARDLY one of their best players..He had a big year that year, but wasnt even Close to being one of the best players..So Yes, Reggie White was a key piece that helped put the defense over the top.. sometimes you gotta do that.. get your facts right!!!

All of you keep wondering how do the Eagles have so much money to sign all of these top free agents. It is simply because they released many players that were in the 1-3 million a year range, ie Quintin Mikell, David Akers, Sav Rocca. Also, last year they re structured many players contracts in order to free up cap space for this year. It is obvious the Eagles knew what the situation was going to be with the new CBA, so they were smart for once and planned ahead.

I’m as critical of Reid’s in-game management as anyone, but can you really say that the Eagles haven’t won a SB because of him? They should have won in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, they just didn’t get it done in the NFC championship. In 2004, McNabb choked (literally) and the Patriots most likely knew our plays before we ran them (ahem). In 2008 the defense just couldn’t hold up our offense anymore. Those were really their 3 real chances, and I don’t recall Andy Reid blowing any of them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still be making jokes about how Andy Reid eats players he’d mad at, but I’m just sayin’

For those of you who aren’t knowledgeable football fans who keep wondering how the Eagles have this kind of money, let me break it down for you. Every year the Eagles are 20 million under the cap. They go through the season under the cap. Eagles are a very financially smart team. They don’t over pay players and they don’t get themselves stuck in contracts with past-their-prime players like the Redskins do. The Eagles where 20 million under the cap last year and they haven’t resigned any of their free agents. They went into this free agency period with over 30 million in cap space. Also if you look at who they signed you will see they got these players for good prices. You really have to take your hats off to the Eagles front office. Though they haven’t won a championship in a long time, they are a winning team every year and right now they have created a buzz about their teams and people want to play there. I think the Eagles are going to the bowl this year providing they get D. Jackson back and a good middle linebacker. If this happens, look out Green Bay Packers because the Eagles have build themselves to beat you. Just look at their 3 CBs.

Who knew that signing free agents was such a dishonorable act? I suppose the sanctity of football has been compromised.

Good thing there are still beacons of purity such as the Cowboys that continue to dominate while completely forsaking the practice of signing free agents. Just look at all the successes they’ve piled up in the past couple decades!

Wow, a lot comments on this one….must be the Philly fans jizzing over the Eagle and Phillies FA signings and the trades….everything is going their way – ON PAPER!!

The reality is this…..This may be the wrong year to pile up all the talent……no off season to learn and bond…..

Andy Reid is still the HC….somehow Andy recently has gotten some sort of Vince Lombardi treatmnent by media and other football people……..he is good,, but he still sucks when the game is on the line and the air is hard to breath…..the clock is Andy’s enemy – the guy sucks at clock maagement…..

Anyway…good luck Eagles…..there is nothing greater in life than witnessing all the Philly @holes have their hearts broken again….welll, 2nd greatest- i love when NY teams suck the big one and i get to listen to them cry like spoiled little girls on WFAN….

Thats not even all of them. I won’t start on the offense.

I don’t have time to get too far into this but its clear that most teams have a strong mix of both drafted players and free agents/trades.

The trick is managing the salary cap.

Don’t be a hater. You had your hall of fame years in the 90s. Let us enjoy these…
