With all the focus on whether the Falcons would keep right tackle Tyson Clabo, many had overlooked the fact that both starting guards were able to walk away.

One did, one won’t be.

Right guard Harvey Dahl has headed to St. Louis.  According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, left guard Justin Blalock has agreed to a six-year deal to remain with the Falcons.

Blalock has started every game each of the last three seasons.  In his rookie season of 2007, Blalock started 14 games.

Good re-signing. Blalock has been solid and always on the field.

don’t really care about the story too much, but the picture of Blalock in that article is badass.

I kinda wanted them to keep Dahl over Blaylock, just because of his nastiness and run-blocking, but Blaylock is a solid guard, and several years younger. Amazing we got to keep two of the three linemen that could have left (Clabo). Pretty good off-season so far. They’re keeping the key pieces in place.

Dahl is nastier but Blalock is more durable and is never penalized. Hope we didn’t overpay him though.
