Browns bring back Derreck Robinson

Willis McGahee, Derreck Robinson AP

As the Browns shift from a 3-4 back to a 4-3, they need defensive linemen and linebackers who can perform in the new alignment.

And they’re keeping one of the guys whom they signed for their old defense.

Derreck Robinson has re-signed with the Browns.  The team announced the move today.

A defensive end in the 3-4 alignment, the 295-pounder most likely will move inside to tackle for new coordinator Dick Jauron, and possibly gain at least five pounds to get to once-unheard-of-but-now-seemingly-mandatory-minimum of three bills.

Robinson joined the Browns in 2009.  He previously played for the Chargers and the Dolphins.

Wow another huge browns free agent signing. How about getting some impact players, that actually started for other teams instead of our own and other teams 3rd teamers. what a joke. Building for the future right. Hearing that since 1999.Get proven vets to lead the young guys its not rocket science. Playing for #1 pick in 2012 already?

Yea, because that’s worked so well the last 12 years, right? Build through the draft, and when you’re on the verge of being a contender, THEN you add high-priced and big-name free agents to put you over the top.

I guess we’re going to go with a defensive line of only DTs. That seems to be the only position we’re signing.
