A couple weeks before the Lockout was lifted we sat down with Tim Hightower and
talked about his plans for the upcoming season. The NFC Champ says he’s ready to take his team to the Super Bowl this season.

It works out good for us. Now the NFC East can cheer/groan when THT fumbles on a key play.

We drafted two new running backs and if we wanted a veteran, there are plenty of unsigned backs out there who are better than Tim Hightower. Why are we trading for him?

Even though Holiday was 192 years old, he was our most effective defensive end at times last year. That pick better be very late and the condition better be that he scores the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.

I suppose one possible explanation is the Vonnie Holiday was the ‘Skins union rep. Last year the front office engineered a trade to essentially get out of paying a draft pick. Swapping players with the Rams before cutting both players. Things might get interesting if Holiday and Hightower both get cut.

Your ignorance is just unfortunate. Holliday was not going to make the roster. The Skins drafted Jarvis Jenkins and signed Stephen Bowen. Hightower is an upgrade to Torain. No-brainer. And you’re suppose to be a Skins fan?

Easy now. Holliday was the most consistent defensive lineman – a relative term to be sure – from last season, and would’ve been an excellent mentor to Jenkins, Bowen, and any other young players in camp and on the roster. He was the player rep, so leadership was a factor here, too.

He would’ve made the roster. Jenkins, Cofield, Bryant, Carriker, and Bowen are going to make the roster, with Neild and Golston possibilities. Holiday would’ve made it. Maybe you could say he would have been a short term fix and occupied a spot that could’ve went to a younger player that may be a piece of the puzzle down the road.

I was of the opinion that we had plenty at HB, but with Keiland Williams working at fullback, Torain injury prone, and Helu and Royster rookies, a little competition from a young, experienced back isn’t too bad. Competition is key here. For far too long Redskins fans have known who was going to make the roster because there was no competition, save for a nominal undrafted rookie.

If you have a problem with someones opinion then just school them on the topic at hand. I guess it depends on who you’re asking but if there was a team named the, “Honkies”, I’d pimp dat sh*t til they buried me in it.

Hopefully, Hightower doesn’t reach whatever level of performance is necessary to meet those conditions.

A couple of these players at WR will be wasted when you draft 3 guys plus pick up a couple in FA, not to mention the ones already on your team.

Holliday may be old, but he is a vet who should add a bit of depth to our D-Line, plus we got a pick, and it should clear some money (although I doubt Hightower was making too much).

Overall, I am excited about the Cards moves this off season. Taking some risks for sure, but I think definite steps in the right direction.

In reality the Cards probably didnt think they were going to keep Hightower on the 53 man roster anyway so while a 35 year old average DE/DT and a late pick may seem like minimal compensation the alternative was very likely just cutting him.

Another smart move for Washington….crazy what a REAL GM can do for a team, as long as Snyder doesnt get power hungry

Hightower will certainly join Shanahan’s rotation RB squad, devoid of any fantasy football usage.

More importantly though, when you join the Redskins, your career is at the end of the line.
