Sorry Jack, but this is not a game of horseshoes nor hand grenades so your ALMOST means only that your were the last to LOSE.

Sorry Jack, but the rings are ALL that matter, the whole purpose of the game and the reason they actually keep score.

Just go ask a Phillies fan, they may even have a couple.

I’ve been trying to look for the good in the Redskins activity during free agency, but there is just no excuse for this.

We drafted two new running backs and if we wanted a veteran, there are plenty of unsigned backs out there who are better than Tim Hightower. Why are we trading for him?

Even though Holiday was 192 years old, he was our most effective defensive end at times last year. That pick better be very late and the condition better be that he scores the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.

I suppose one possible explanation is the Vonnie Holiday was the ‘Skins union rep. Last year the front office engineered a trade to essentially get out of paying a draft pick. Swapping players with the Rams before cutting both players. Things might get interesting if Holiday and Hightower both get cut.
———————————
Your ignorance is just unfortunate. Holliday was not going to make the roster. The Skins drafted Jarvis Jenkins and signed Stephen Bowen. Hightower is an upgrade to Torain. No-brainer. And you’re suppose to be a Skins fan?

Easy now. Holliday was the most consistent defensive lineman - a relative term to be sure - from last season, and would've been an excellent mentor to Jenkins, Bowen, and any other young players in camp and on the roster. He was the player rep, so leadership was a factor here, too.

He would've made the roster. Jenkins, Cofield, Bryant, Carriker, and Bowen are going to make the roster, with Neild and Golston possibilities. Holiday would've made it. Maybe you could say he would have been a short term fix and occupied a spot that could've went to a younger player that may be a piece of the puzzle down the road.

I was of the opinion that we had plenty at HB, but with Keiland Williams working at fullback, Torain injury prone, and Helu and Royster rookies, a little competition from a young, experienced back isn't too bad. Competition is key here. For far too long Redskins fans have known who was going to make the roster because there was no competition, save for a nominal undrafted rookie.

First off no1 cares about your ancient rings , how many division titles do you have this MILLENIUM? Redskins are basement dwelling trash . Your teams a non factor . The foreskins ruin the otherwise talented East. Instead of running your last place mouths, take notes on how to get QUALITY free agents. Oh and @darthitman, the Eagles had one of the most explosive offenses last year dummy!
PS thx again for the 2nd and 4th last year clowns! Enjoy another losing year! !!!

yea? Im a Eagles fan too and go ahead and read my post two spots above yours where I compliment the Skins on this move and offer insight into it.

If you have a problem with someones opinion then just school them on the topic at hand. Trying to play the stereotypical "Philly fan blah blah blah" card is beyond played out and only works to make you look unable to intelligently counter someones argument. Philly fans are as diverse as any fanbase so stop the nonsense already and be a man and have a real debate!!!

Why’d the skins bother drafting 2 rbs?
----------------------------------------
Torain is injury prone, they released Portis and Keiland Williams is not that talented. That's why they drafted 2 RB's. The trade for Hightower was unexpected but too good to pass up. It just means that Royster might go to the practice squad or Williams will be released. Hightower is an upgrade that you can't pass up. Four RB's on 53-man roster will be 1. Hightower, 2. Helu, 3. Torain and 4. Royster. Better than last year.

I like the move, Hightower is a great pass catching back. He's a good pass blocker too, something Washington has missed since Portis is gone. I'm not sold on the way they seem to be avoiding the OLINE needs. It's like they're goin cheap on every offensive position, minus Cooley, Big Trent Williams, and Moss.

@ Mad555

You're an idiot. Washington is the only franchise to win the big game with a black quarterback. A BIG point of pride.

Is the name "Redskins" racist? Is that your issue?

I guess it depends on who you're asking but if there was a team named the, "Honkies", I'd pimp dat sh*t til they buried me in it.

As a Seahawks fan, I approve of the 'Nulls trading a 25 year old RB for a 35 year old DE and a conditional pick.

Hopefully, Hightower doesn't reach whatever level of performance is necessary to meet those conditions. :D

Let's be real here, with the signing of Heap etc. IF the Cards can land Braylon Edwards for a fair price, a FA period that started HORRIBLY for them could still be salvaged into something...and if they land Braylon should Kolb fail it wouldn't be do to the org not putting talent around him as he would have more overall talent in Zona than he did in Philly...offensively speaking anyway

My problem with the Skins is that their going after 3rd and even 4th tier players and expecting to get huge productions out of them. Santana Moss was a good signing, as was Cofield and Wilson. But Gaffeny? Stallworth? Kellen Clemens? Plus they drafted 2 RBs and like 3 WRs. They also have Anthony Armstrong on the roster.

A couple of these players at WR will be wasted when you draft 3 guys plus pick up a couple in FA, not to mention the ones already on your team.

I think this was a good trade by the Cards. We obviously drafted Williams for a reason and the Wells-Hightower combo didn't work too great for us the last couple of years. Yes Hightower helped on our Superbowl quest, but he was more of the pass catcher/blocker while Edge carried the ball. I don't ever think Hightower was the real answer at RB because we then went and drafted Wells after Edge left. Williams will hopefully be a much better back and fit our system. Maybe we will actually attempt to run the ball a few times a game too now...

Holliday may be old, but he is a vet who should add a bit of depth to our D-Line, plus we got a pick, and it should clear some money (although I doubt Hightower was making too much).

Overall, I am excited about the Cards moves this off season. Taking some risks for sure, but I think definite steps in the right direction.

good move by the Redskins.....Roy Helu Jr. and Tim Hightower should give them a very effective 1-2 punch at HB. Plus Hightower is a terrific receiver out of the backfield and good pass blocker as well.

In reality the Cards probably didnt think they were going to keep Hightower on the 53 man roster anyway so while a 35 year old average DE/DT and a late pick may seem like minimal compensation the alternative was very likely just cutting him.

Another smart move for Washington....crazy what a REAL GM can do for a team, as long as Snyder doesnt get power hungry

Who knew Vonnie Holliday was still in the league?

Hightower will certainly join Shanahan's rotation RB squad, devoid of any fantasy football usage.

More importantly though, when you join the Redskins, your career is at the end of the line.

RIP Tim Hightower
