Detroit fans wanted the Lions to make a big free agent signing to upgrade the cornerback position this year. Instead, they’ll settle for signing a cornerback they already had.

The Lions have re-signed free agent cornerback Chris Houston, who started 15 games in Detroit last season.

Although Detroit fans had dreams of Nnamdi Asomugha in a Lions uniform, that was never close to happening. The Lions were interested in an upgrade at cornerback, but not interested in breaking the bank to do it.

And so the signing of former Browns cornerback Eric Wright, and now retaining Houston, will likely be the extent of the cornerback signings the Lions make.
