As a player he is one of the best run blocking tight ends in the league and he is a big target with great hands for Garrard, and in the future, Gabbert.

After the CBA was agreed on Gene Smith and company had to focus on free agency and improving the defense, now the defense is set, the focus will be on rewarding Lewis… one of the team’s very few successful first round drafts picks.

Gene Smith is just trying to get the free agents since there is only a short window this free agency period. Especially with Blaine Gabbert eventually taking over, a TE is a young QB’s best friend.
