Seahawks snag Sims

Ryan Sims, Aaron Rodgers AP

Ryan Sims is heading to Seattle.

PFT has confirmed what multiple outlets have reported, which is that Sims has agreed to terms with the Seahawks.

A 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive lineman, Sims played in six games for the Bucs last year, starting one.

The Chiefs made Sims the sixth overall pick of the 2002 NFL draft, and he played in Kansas City for five seasons. He then played in Tampa Bay from 2007 to 2010.

You left out the part where he was totally worthless.

    Depth.

Why do people think EVERY signing is intended to have a momentous impact? Sometimes you add guys for depth and not be starters, sometimes they are just training camp fodder. Sometimes you have Tim Ruskell as your former GM and he decimated a decent roster and these guys are better than the low talent guys Ruskell brought in.

riverhorsey: “sorry guys, Sims is an avg back up at best”

And that is precisely why he was brought in…either that or a camp body.

Sims held out as a rookie and showed up 40 lbs overweight. he never got any better.

    Seattle = Redskins West

I don’t get this. The one position on D the Hawks are allright in depth wise DT (Mebane, Branch, Bryant, Balmer, Cole or PUP). I’ve been looking every day praying for a CB or even a SS but nothing. Unless something changes fast this is shaping up to be the worst secondary in the NFL. If they’re planning on going in with Tru, Jennings, Cox, and Thurmond at corner this will be a long season. Still need a SS desperatly as well. Can’t believe I’m desperate for them to sign Kelly Jennings to be their 2nd CB.

Tim Ruskell is our (Bears) assistant GM now and i agree with you. He blows donkey nuts

We let go of Lora and sign a possible backup?
This move reminds me of the guy we got from the 49ers last year. I hope we get more big plays this time.

We let tatupu go for a guy drafted ten years ago with worse stats? Since we are releasing lofa, if someone else picks him up, do the hawks get draft compensation?

    cball77 , slap yourself buddy – wake up !

The last thing in the freakin’ world we want to see is Kelly Jennings ( otherwise known by me and my buddies as ‘Roaming Gnome’ ) back as a Hawk . Truf on one side and Thurmond on the other …

No more mighty-midget corners on this team , for gawd’s sakes !
