Saints guard Carl Nicks, ranked as the 55th best player in the NFL by his peers, has accepted his one-year tender offer as a restricted free agent.

Nicks, a three-year veteran, was tendered at the first-round level.

I’m back,” Nicks said, per WWL.com.  “I wanted to prove my worth, and maybe next year we can talk long term.”

A full-time starter since 2009, Nicks has appeared in all 48 games of his career, starting 45.

He is the best guard in the NFL, why does he need to be tendered?

If only Carl had done more to help Bird defeat Magic when they were together at Indiana State…

As much as I like the Packers chances of being a SB contender again this season, one of the ? on the team is the LG position.

Im fine with the fact that Ted Thompson doesn’t sign many FAs from other teams but I think with this team this year, he should have tried to sign a big name LG like Justin Blalock or Carl Nicks.

Nicks would cost a 1st rounder but I would like to think hes worth a late first round pick, especially pick 32 if thats what they end up with. Not saying they will but im just making a point.

I love the way Nicks plays, hes a beast and if the rookie Danny Watkins is a first round pick then Nicks definitely is IMO.
